Just finished reading this whole thread, R99. You did an awesome job with this car. You should have been on the MINI design team because you've fixed a lot of the design issues this car has. Kudos!

Ha, thanks! I don't think I've done that good a job, but I would love to work for MINI!

There is more to come, but first I need to save some more cash before I can do the next round of mods!

The car has now racked up nearly 6,000 miles!

I've loved each and everyone!

I just got finished de-chroming some things. Thoughts?

You shouldn't be side-tracking someone else's Project thread

I've held off with updates as I've most been just driving the thing of late! Clicked over to the 6k miles mark this week already!

Coilovers have bedded in as much as I think they will and the handling is superb - my only gripe is the ride is rock hard with the 18's fitted!

Today I decided to make one last major purchase before the baby comes in January and in a moment of madness I've ordered the Remus exhaust system.

Ive gone for the valvetronic rear box, the carbon exhaust tips and the optional 'racing tube' (which removes the centre silencer) for added noise and cracks.

Some pictures of what seems to be a very nicely engineered bit of kit!

Racing tube is on the right in this picture:

Video of said exhaust:

I've got to wait for the exhaust to be produced on Friday and it should be shipped the following week - so the provisional date for fitting is 2 weeks from now.

What's the difference between the Remus you bought and the Remus exhaust that's the subject of the other thread today? That person says it has 2 different modes you can change to.

Ha, that person is me in the other thread too!

The Remus has two modes (valvetronic) so it can be switched to open up the rear silencer and therefore produce a louder tone.

The original video posted by the OP shows the Remus media video which doesn't feature the optional racing tube (hence its quitter sounding) as its not ECC approved.

I don't need ECC approval in the UK though, which is why I've gone for the racing tube.

I think the Remus set up I've gone for will be louder than the JCW Bi-modal exhaust

I know a lot of people aren't fans of the F56 but I really like them. The build quality, especially of the interior is just SO premium. And you can't get that mpg. Everything you've done to the car so far seems great, I really love your color combo.

Super looking

I have been following your progress from over here in Canada where our 2015 cars were delayed until mid Oct. Your car is amazing looking. I ordered the Thunder Greg with the black top and really like the way it drives and handles. I will do some things to it to make it more aggressive looking in time, but have a question as you appear to be a master at removing parts for paint etc. Do you know how to remove the air inlet trim rings on the lower front bumper? They are chrome and I want to paint them. There does not seem to be an obvious clip or screw and didn't want to use brute force without knowing how they are attached.

Thanks, in order to remove the air ducts you will need a good set of trim tools.

Slot the trim tool in at the top and gently prise it to unclip it from the bumper, work your way around until it releases.

That, or remove the bumper and do it from behind!!!

I absolutely love the CC'd front bits. Looks so solid. I might have left that 1 chrome bar on the "S" grill to tie in the chrome around the window base. Beautiful ride! I'm picking up my Midnight Black Cooper tonight...CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Consider putting some pix in your Gallery. That way people won't have to search through the thread to see them, and they can get to them from any post you make. It's a nice feature. I'd forgotten about the pix I took of my 2007 MCS but they're still there!

Have you measured the inner clearance for your rear wheels? Trying to determine just how much space there is back there.

Quick update!

Got the exhaust on this morning but I had to shoot straight off to work, so sadly no videos until the morning.

I can confirm though that it's unreal and is utterly brutal with the valve open and sport mode engaged. It's like a shotgun has gone off!

Switch out of sport and the pops and cracks go (same as it does on the stock system) but it's still awesomely loud.

Once the valve is closed its nice and liveable and no drone at all.

Here is a quick video I took this evening.

Sport Mode is on throughout the video. The valve is opened, then closed and then opened again to give an idea of the sound difference.

In this video the following Remus part numbers are fitted:

Valved Exhaust - 755014 097
Unsilenced Racing Tube - 755014 0000
Ø 102 mm angled Carbon Fibre / Titanium Tail Pipes - 0026 70CS

UK Retail for the set up in this video is £1180.

Apologies for the distorted sound, its that loud I think I had the camera too close to the tailpipes! The video does not do the sound justice!

I will take a better video in the daylight and with the camera further back ASAP.
