I just purchased a 2017 F56S and found this link. The MINI I purchased has the armrest and I'm 6'5" and the armrest needs to go. I'm very thankful to the community for this string of posts. I have my items ordered from ECS Tuning and will be taking delivery of my MINI on Tuesday. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this post.

I just pulled my armrest out of my '22 F56, there were no wires or connectors to unplug thankfully. I dont have the wireless charger in the armrest like some cars do so it was simple. Im going to drive without it for a bit to make sure I like it before ordering the replacement trim from ECS. Does anyone have a guide to the removing the center console? Im more so concerned about the front part around the cup holders and such.

Ok, picking right back up. Take the clip that is in the center of the spot previously occupied by the bow-tie of "the hole". Be careful doing this, it is a pain to dig out if it falls through.
At this point, installation is essentially the reverse of removal. Make sure you fish the i-drive and sport ring cables where you need them before seating the new console down. Thete are two trim clips south of the shifter to seat, one T-25 screw beneath the i-drive control, the 2-T-20 screws that hold the i-drive control in, and the trim ring pops back on. The rest is as you'd assume.
When you finish, you should find more comfort and something looking a bit like this.
Cut the lawn, have a beer, or whatever you like after. Just don't be bothered by that annoyance ever again

I have a question that falls right in line with this project and I hope its okay to insert it into this conversation. I recently bought an 08 R56 and removed the arm entirely as it was ... flaccid. Anyway I removed the "antennae/network" cables that were plugged in next to the hand brake, and my USB audio stopped working. Are these components related? I've since even plugged all that stuff back in and it still doesn't work, so maybe they're unrelated. I'm sort of lost at this point, any info anyone can give me on these would be fantastic help. Thanks, hope I'm not stepping on toes posting in this thread.
