I almost ready to purchase my F56 MC. Just trying to figure out a few more things. I live in an area where we do get afternoon rain down pours. My question is should I go with the All-season tires or the stock performance tires on the configurator. I am going with 17" tires. There may be times that I do go up north into colder weather.

 

All seasons will serve you better in the long run. High performance tires are made mostly for just that and won't give you the longest reach by probably half. Expect somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 to 30K on HP tires and near double that or better with all seasons. If you are going with very short sidewalls then you might want this link to a very good wheel repair outfit. I've used them twice.

I don't have my car yet, but I went with the all season tires. I checked on the details on some of the tires at the dealer before ordering. The HP tires had rather low mileage ratings. I also was concerned about the heavy rains we can get. It seems like MINI is using several different tire manufacturers. Not sure what will be on my car. There were Pirelli tires on the cars at the dealer. Checking them out on line, it appeared some of them were not good for colder temps. My MA told me the all season would be a little noisier. I went for what I thought would be better on wet roads and higher mileage.

I think I am going go with the all season

 

I thought about going with all season tires just for the better longer lasting tires but I compared them to performance tires on long test drives on winding roads and for me the handling with the performance tire is way better. Way more grip with the performance tires. This was with the 16"

 

There are all season high performance tires. You are probably referring to or comparing all season to summer tires. In all season tires you can get touring, high performance or ultra high performance variations. It's the tread pattern and compounds that differ between the two. There are very good handling and performance all season tires.

 

I have asked my MA repeatedly what "type" of all season tires are coming on my car. She cannot provide me with a clear answer.

 

That's because it will be fitted with what is on hand at the factory at the time.

 

Heh...I'd expect closer to 10-15k on HP. I'll be ecstatic if I can get 20k out of the all seasons, but they're not exactly my favorite tire on earth so I won't be overly upset if I have to replace them before that.

 

I live in DC where we get wet summers and snow laden winters so all-seasons were a definite choice for me. I added the sport package with the 17" tentacle spoke wheels and they came fitted with Cinturato P7 All Season Plus Grand Touring tires.
