F55/F56 Mini Configurator Update for 2015 Model packages
#51
I've been researching soft tops for a while and have also determined that I'll have to wait for the newly configured model. Specifically, the interior upgrades like on the F56 are what has me wanting to wait. Being new to MINI I'm guessing that the F57 will included these upgrades. However, dealer has been unable to confirm and haven't found much on the web either. You state F57 Summer 2015. Can you confirm this will include the interior mods and are you suggesting available in summer of 2015 or do you mean summer model year 2015, which would be soon.
Thanks!

Here is where it will get very frustrating. Initially, MINI talked about a Spring 2015 introduction of the new F57 Convertible models (which WILL have the new engines, transmissions, interior trim and tech goodies that the F56 has), but ... MINI has now released 2015 R57 information and pricing which suggests that the "older" R model convertible will continue to be built for another model year alongside the coupe and roadster. This makes me think that the F57 will debut later in the year as a 2016 model or heaven forbid two model years later as a 2017!

Hope your wrong
Right, I have been vigorously working that same R57 pricing guide trying to glean details that might suggest it has the what I'm looking for. For example, if you look at the ZNV package it refers to adding 7L5 to the order which is not referenced or defined in the pricing guide. However, if you look at the new F56 guide is specifically details 7L5 as the MINI Wired pack and includes the Mini Connected XL which are included on the F56. However, my dealer did suggest that it wouldn't come out for 1 to 2 years. As you suggested I am confused and frustrated.

It's funny, I had a 2005 R52S when the R56 was introduced and I never pined for the R57. In fact, I ordered a 2008 R52S just before production ended and I was very happy I did (with all the issues that resulted from the N14 engine). That R52 gave way to a BMW 128i Convertible, which in turn gave way to a VW Eos ... and now I have a TDI Beetle Convertible. With each new vehicle, I kept revisiting the R57, but I never warmed up to it (although I came close last year). The new F57 is a totally different story - I SIMPLY CANNOT WAIT! The new engines, tech and materials are leaps and bounds for me (coming from VW and BMW). And the more I drive the F56, the more I cannot wait. And I think I am even going to opt for the Cooper 1.5/manual instead of the 'S'.
