F55/F56 Locking with audible

I don't have my car yet, but from what I've read, you need the alarm in order to have the honk when you lock.

I'm hoping that MINI can add this option to a software update, it should be as simple as that. If not the horn, then an audible beep, or have the lights flash more than once. Something more noticeable than what is currently enabled.
(This topic, among others regarding "interesting" decisions MINI engineers have made has been discussed, and hopefully MINI has heard the call from customers, and will listen).

then I physical have to get closer to the car to make sure it actually gets locked. Very annoying, coming from a 2010 Honda civic which has feature as standard. I must say though I haven't missed the Honda for a nano second since getting my f56. Especially since I can watch movies on my sat/nav screen. The civic never did that!]

I have a note 3. this is how I hook up to watch videos while parked. Engine must be off initially for video option to go into effect..
1.) connect phone to USB input.
2.) car should recognize your device
[ATTACH]98168
3.)make sure to activate USB (MTP) mode. car may initially launch your device into installer mode.
4.) go to media option. choose external devices and choose your phone.
5.) on left side on screen. scroll down until u see the additional Media option
6.) from next menu on left side choose videos
7.) now you should see list of folders where videos can be located.
[ATTACH]98174
8.) choose corresponding folder. DCIM or other. in my case I have showbox app and that's where I find my movies.
9.) movie starts playing..
that's how I get my to work. but believe me it took me a while to get to that point. NOT made very easy by Mini to accomplish this. hopefully an software update can stream line this process and make it more user friendly. hope this helps in any way..

Page 43 of the manual says...
So it should be there, if it's available.
Confirmation signals from the vehicle
1."Settings"
2."Doors/key"
3.Select the desired setting.
▷"Acoustic sig. lock/unlock" The unlocking is acknowledged by one honk of the horn.
▷"Flash when lock/unlock" The unlocking is acknowledged by two flashes, the locking by one.

I have to go in to my dealer in a couple of weeks to update my software. Their request. I just called to see if I can get a list of changes. In particular, to see if maybe they've added an audible signal when you lock the car. It would also be helpful in locating your car in a parking lot.

Just got a call from my MA. The software update won't provide the desired audible beep. You absolutely have to have the alarm option for that. One of the problems is that the Configurator does not mention anything about an audible beep when locking or unlocking the car. It just briefly describes how the motion sensors work. So I would bet a big percentage of owners assume that the audible feature comes standard with the car. If not a standard feature, then IMO it should be included with maybe the Comfort Access feature. Shame on Mini for neglecting such a basic and common feature.

I agree something so basic ought to be included but they aren't neglecting the feature, they're charging for it. That's the BMW way. The only thing free is the air in the cabin, everything else is an optional extra.
I didn't order the alarm either because I figured there would be basic alarm functionality and the feature just added motion sensors and stuff like that. Wrong. Don't I feel silly.
They also don't do a good job of documenting what goes along with each feature on the website or manual.
In MINI's defense, at least you can see if the car is locked by looking at the lock shafts.

Beeps.
Just love it when the adolescents in the neighborhood, who are in and out of their vehicles constantly, must beep to lock and unlock.
If you can't remember where your car is, have your MD check for the onset of dementia.
Please do remember that red octagon means STOP.
I abhor the noise imposition perpetrated upon us by the useless security systems.
Ever see a Harley go through a parking lot?
Beep... Beep...Beep.
Hope your battery is fully charged.
