F55/F56 Project Thread: Celia (Midnight Black)

I have, rather unfortunately, encountered a loud clunk from the front suspension when under loads like braking, cornering and even sometimes accelerating. It seems to come primarily from the passenger side, but who knows how the acoustics are actually being transmitted. I can feel it through the footwell and transmission tunnel when it happens as well.
Still trying to diagnose it, but I'll keep this thread updated in case others encounter the same issue.

So I bit the bullet with the upgraded wheels and tires! Also sporting a new vanity plate
The wheels are the same size, but much lighter, and with a 45mm offset. I went wide with the tires, they're 225/45/17. The wheels weigh about 16lbs vs stock 21.5lbs for the stock Cosmos wheels, but my tires are slightly heavier than the Continental non-runflats I had before. All in all, I saved about 14lbs total in unsprung weight from the car.
They're definitely a step up in terms of both grip and ride comfort. I'm still exploring the setup a bit since it feels so different - I'm not sure if I feel some squirreliness in tight corners from the extra sidewall or not.

looks good. Have not seen those on an F56 yet. Like the florida plates.

I also think it'd look cool, but I've been cautioned against wrapping the wheels as it apparently doesn't last too long and is a PITA to do curved wheels.
I've been debating plastidipping them a color thats close to the titanium, but idk... the plastidipped wheels I've seen don't seem to wear well.

I've had good luck with plastidip on wheels. The trick is the surface prep and to make sure you get enough of the product on there.

I'll be using this on a set of aftermarket wheels (gloss white) as soon as I kill my stock tires.

I really like them as is on your MINI. Really go well with your roof and mirrors.

Of what? The wheels? Sure, they're made in China but almost every affordable wheel these days is. No problems thus far - they're round and they're light.

Whats the weight ?

Pretty light, like an OEM 15" wheel. Back in the day the Genuine MINI R71 Hollie 4x100 wheels were 12.0 lbs.

No, no grease is necessary. You just mount them up on the hub, align the holes, and then mount the wheel. A bit like a sandwich, you just need to make sure the holes are properly aligned so you can tighten the lug bolts smoothly.

You can add some anti-sieze for people in salt prone areas, any metal likes to stick to the rusted rotor hat. That way if you ever take them off , they will come off easier.
Here is a DIY for measure and install.
F56 / F55+ wheel spacers here , full kits have the correct length new longer bolts.

Looking great so far! I am not planning to very much extensively to my car, but I will start a thread for it also. Will be plenty of before and after. I wasn't sure about the silver wheels on your car because I like black wheels, but I think it looks really nice with the silver mirrors and roof. I will end up getting a set of black wheels for mine.
