F55/F56 New Mini Convertible F57 - Placing order this week
#27
Excited for you! Congrats on the new car. I love the idea of ordering a car and maybe getting a DVD of it getting made. But then I still have a problem with instant gratification, haha.
And yes, as others have said, the 3 cylinder and automatic is a great combo. The mid-range passing power is very unexpected.
Does the convertible with the 15" wheels have a spare tire like the Hardtop?

Picked it up Friday. FYI if you've been driving something like a prius C and get behind the wheel of a mini s... well let's just say it's like learning to drive all over again. The mini is such a fun car. I found that I keep finding my self going from 60 to 80 on the highway in no time and not realizing it. The Prius could get there but with effort on my part.
The acceleration is crazy. I had a 71 Chevy Nova with a line 6 145cu inch engine back in high school. With a 2 speed automatic that I could smoke the tires on, but it didn't have the same feel this mini s does...

Are you guys observing any sort of break-in on them? In the absence of a described break in I suggested the wife keep it under 4500rpm if possible for about the first 1500mi.
We picked hers up yesterday, will try to grab a picture or two - hope the OP doesn't mind this getting threadjacked for the seeming 4 or 5 people with an F57
We got a manual, and getting used to this engine/transmission combo is definitely interesting. There seem to be both rev hang and rev matching, so I keep giving it throttle to do so myself. The clutch pedal is also a strange non-linear resistance, really springy up for the first 30% or so, then very light from there to the floor.
So far, car both looks really good and is a ton of fun to drive though.
The Motoring adviser was awesome, and she actually spent probably 2-3 hours after they closed yesterday to give my wife a full intro to the car's function (and there's an awful lot).
Unfortunately they're tied to a BMW dealership, and the "business manager" or "finance manager" was a super hard sale-ing douche kinda guy. He even vaguely threatened me when we turned down the extended maintenance plan telling me if I do work myself I void the warranty. I gave him a very harsh brief on Magnuson-Moss.
Did anyone purchase an extended warranty with theirs? The price seemed absurdly high to me - $3500-ish for 7 year / 100k mi. I bought the same duration of warranty on my Subaru Legacy spec.B, which was almost identical in sale price, and the cost was about $1850 through Subaru. I also have a 7 year / 100ki mile on my Touareg which was about $1900.
I figured we won't bother with it at that price, and just make a decision as we come up towards the 4 year mark if we want to buy it based on what actually happens with the car.

Very nice vehicle.
I had my dealership try and sell me a tire and wheel policy for $1495.
I can buy a 2 sets of tires and a new wheel for that $. I steer clear of any body/paint, wheel/tire or extended dealer warranties. Most are pure profit (like the document fees) for the dealerships and few ever recoup their initial cost.
Since most Mini dealership rarely sell below retail, I'm not one to further "feather their nests".

Yeah, looks like we got $1500 under MSRP as built, which I think was all Mini incentives.
They definitely tried to push the wheel and tire package - again selling that with something like "replacing 1 tire is $400 alone!" which of course in my head is just "That's why I would certainly never put these tires on a car!"
Honestly got kind of an impression that since all of this was done at the BMW side of the house, it was a "take your cheap Mini and get out of our nice offices" vibe.
Went looking for a Covercraft window shade and Weathertech floor mats, nothing exists for this car yet (even a forum )

Yep, I'm keeping under the 4000 rpm and 100mph limit for the first 1500 to 2000 miles as recommended in the manual.
I'll post a pic of my actual car. Still having fun. Had to buy some spf 70 sun screen 😂
The sales man spent about 2 hours going over everything with me too.

I was told keep under 4400 rpm for first 1,200 miles and gentle braking for first 500 miles. Should be taking delivery of my 2016 Mini S hatchback this Friday. Decided to get JCW tuner kit. Car is moonwalk gray with black jcw stripes, jcw exterior and interior packages, heated seats, hk sound, mini connect, auto with shift paddles (spent well over an hour driving standard autos, auto with paddle shifters and manual), damper control, and a bunch of stuff I'm forgetting in all the excitement. Was going to order JCW sports exhaust when building the car but forgot. Which was a good thing. Sports exhaust = always loud. JCW Tuner comes with bluetooth control to open and close baffles = quiet with wife and sounds like a full-blown track car when I'm alone.

Sweet color combo! My wife was eyeing the 'verts when I was shopping my F54, but I couldn't get her to try one on for size. I think she wanted to avoid the temptation... She still misses here '86 Mustang GT 'vert she had for almost 20 years.
