Meet Oliver & watch out for paint defects!
Thank you NAM members for your threads and posts which made the wait for my first MINI much less painful. I’ve enjoyed reading your concerns, questions/answers and of course drooling over the pictures of your cars!
Now that I have my new MINI I wanted to pay it forward by sharing a few pictures and telling you about my MINI’s paint defect. But first things first... :::drumroll:::
Introducing Oliver!
He’s a handsome Deep Blue JUSTA, manual transmission, with the wired package and wired upgrade.
I picked him up exactly 1 day short of 8 weeks after placing the order. 36 hrs after driving off the lot, I realized he had a paint defect right under the bonnet. Asides from peeling/flaking, the color in the corner was lighter as if it received a much thinner coat of paint.
I immediately contacted the dealership and searched the forums for paint defects, flaking, etc. The only thing I found on the forums was this thread from 2010:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ni-cooper.html
Coincidentally, I too bought my car from East Bay MINI. The person in that thread said their bumper had been repainted before she bought it. I didn't ask if my bumper had been repainted but I don’t think it was because the timeframe from Port Hueneme to the dealership to my garage was extremely short.
However, my MA was great, the service manager was great and Oliver now looks 100% perfect. His bumper was re-painted, I got a loaner while he was in the shop, and his bumper paint is guaranteed. Here he is, re-painted bumper and all, looking fly!
