Headlight and Taillight Trim Rings replacement

When I get my 2015 F56 I want to replace the Chrome with Black Trim Rings on the Headlights and Taillights. How hard to replace, does anyone have instructions with pictures or videos on how to do this? Any thread with a link. Thanks

They just pop off similar to the R56 ones, it's pretty simple to do.

We sell the rings if you need them.

They are easy to replace:

We have them Here: 51712355791 KT and 51712285495 KT

http://www.ecstuning.com/News/MINI_F56_Cooper_Base_S_Black_Trim_Rings_2014/

The front are like the R56 . Clips on the back side here , pop you hood and press out from the back around.

Rear taillight trim. Has clips on the top and bottom. Open the trunk if you want to lift / access it from the side.

Trim tool helps with this and others :

Thanks

Where do parts come from?

Do they run the machines a half hour longer?

Do they pull them out of production?

The headlight rings like the R56+ HL and Taillights ones are made in Italy.

The taillights rings are made in Germany.

Thanks

Do they have Black trim around the grill hood yet for the F56 Base?

Not yet, it will be the whole grille ( mouth ), but will be something soon. Seen it on the JCW F56 pre production and looks great.

I agree. Here's another thread with instructions for removal / replacement:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...installed.html

One word of caution: Be careful of the plastic clip inserts on the front trim rings when you remove them (there are 6). It doesn't take much pressure to have one of them fly off if it isn't fully inserted into it's retention slot. If you do lose any (like happened to me), the part number is G2NMX7789. They're about $3 each...thus, the word of caution.

You just have to be careful and take your time. Good advice.

Yep, most likely as the chrome one fits the Cooper & Cooper S. The F56 JCW pre production looked the same. I know the color was the same/ finish.

#4 not yet out in black. But the same.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but do we know if the the trim is the same on the F56 and the F55? Hoping to get the black ring replacements from my dealer, but they are not listed as compatible with the F55. They look identical though...

They show compatible with the F55 per the MINI ETK. So you should be gtg.

Will do! It's on a boat finally...only a few short weeks now...

I will be blacking out the grill, beltline, and gas cap and color matching the door handles.

Hello Malibujoey,

We dont have any belt line tape , but we do have 3M 1080 in gloss black wrap that people have used for belt-line and other custom projects. The black matches very closely to the factory MINI black line trims. We have silver and CF trim also.

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/3m_Wrap/

with the wrap kit.

Thanks
