Not happy... :(

The MINI stalled while rolling off the driveway...

This is what I saw when I looked at the driveway...

Only 2600 miles on it...

I take it you've read the oil filter housing thread in the problems section?

/quote So far we have had FOUR oil filter housing failures posted on the 2014 Minis.
If you are one of the listed, please add build date, miles, and summary comments,
so we may be alert to the situation.

PLEASE reply on the topic: Mini Oil Filter HousingFailure

1) Morty73 (https://www.northamericanmotoring.com...le-of-oil.html)
Build date 5/13/14
Miles 11,500

2) MarcoPolo (https://www.northamericanmotoring.com...le-of-oil.html) post 35
Build date is 2/27, 2014.
5k miles

3) Melor - 2600 miles (https://www.northamericanmotoring.com...600-miles.html )
Production date 4/15/2014.
2600 miles

4) kgehrig - 4500 miles (https://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ml#post3986389)
Production Date; 3, 2014
4501 Miles at failure
. But
.Motoring file saying Cars affected are between the dates of the 13th November 2013 to 14th March 2014?
Two of the above failures are after those dates. \quote

I'd throw a post on there so it can be tracked for the powers that be and tied in. If that turns out to be the problem

Does anyone know if the oil filter housing has been modified for the 2015 model year? My build date was 07-08-14. Have there been any postings for failures for 2015 models?

I went to pick up my car this morning and they confirmed it was the oil filter housing problem. Service guy also mentioned that there is a recall for it.

not really a big deal at this point. although of course you're down, it'll be fine. you'll get a flush new oil change so be happy about that

what happened to me was in replacing the housing, it also affects the antifrieeze so when i drove home, i got another alert, brought it BACK in, to find out that it was air in the system. cleared it up and the alert went away.

I wonder why they didn't contact the OP about the recall. I thought that was via Mini USA, they send a letter and maybe an email. They did to me about my recall. It's different with stuff that won't brick your car, like the exhaust tips they replaced when you went in for something else, because they could burn your leg if you were an idiot.

It more than likely falls outside the recall range. There is however a SI about oil filter housings leaking coolant...

With all that said, Even though the SI is for a coolant leak, and a car is out of the recall range (or it has already been done at the port) there are still A LOT of oil filter housing failures.

Side topic - when I went in for this they forgot to reset my service indicator. Does anyone know how to do this without a trip to the dealer? Thanks.

Weren't Mini Ss held up on delivery last April due to a defective oil filter housing? I know mine was, for about a week or so. The housing was replaced on mine back then.

I don't know the answer but a phone call to your dealership and they should be able to help you over the phone.

Yes I think it's in there. I did mine from it last year. BTW I think I was the one to discover the secret menu in 2007, I did it by accident trying to reset the trip meter and found my VIN number and stuff. I started a thread about it but I didn't fool around with it much.

Why reset it? The more service (and oil) you can get for free, the better, and they probably check a few things beyond the oil! In fact, I would guess they purposely left it because yours was a repair and not really a service.

In my case, I only had a few hundred miles left before the first planned service and hassle of taking my car to the dealer again > prospect of additional and likely unneeded oil change.

BTW I was able to find a solution to my problem in another thread (press and hold the trip indicator for about 10 seconds). The service tech that I spoke with at my dealer over the phone had no clue how to do this on the F56.

For what it's worth at least I got a loaner for my issue.
