Hard to close the trunk door?

I just got my brand new 2015 MCS couple days ago. Loving everything about the car, but I found that i have to close the trunk door with some force ( pretty loud) in order to close it properly. Or else my car will tell me that my trunk door is opened. From the outside, the door looks like it's closed. And the most frustrating part is, It won't tell me the door is not properly closed till i actually started up the car. P.s. I can still lock the doors, but when I come back the next morning, the system tells met trunk is not locked after I have started up the car.

I am wondering has anyone experiencing or has experienced this before? My fiancé thinks it's a factory defect.

Thanks tons,

Gloria

My 2015 isn't that way. I'd take it to the dealer and see if they can do something about it. It's possibly a defective latch mechanism.

Hard to close the trunk door?

Thanks @whatchluv4ever, I will defiantly ask the dealer to check it out and let you guys know then.

Thanks @blue al for reminding me that could happen. Let me try again today without touching my key, And see if it happens again.

Mine was the same way. License plate rattling procedure to close it until I started to experiment with it a bit.

I find now that I can hold the trunk lid about 6-8 inches open and lease it and it locks fine. Suggest you try opening the trunk and hold it about 6 inches open and just release to see if it locks. Adjust the drop height a bit up or down to find the sweet spot. If it does, it's probably fine.

Not sure but my tendency was to pull the hatch down from the full open position and let it go much higher than necessary causing the license plate to rattle and the lid to slam. When I tried to slow it's impact, it wouldn't lock totally. I find the 6- 8 inch drop works fine without slamming the trunk.

Let us know how that works for you.

The 6 inch thing sounds normal to me, mine works the same way and my previous cars worked the same way. By the way typically the rear hatch is the boot not the trunk. It's a Mini thing. LOL

Actually knew that, but didn't want to be the one to correct the ongoing vernacular.

Ops! The only reason why I am calling the boot "trunk" is because my mini actually shown as " trunk opened" on my hud. Thanks for the correction now I know the right word for it is boot! Haha

Thank you both so much! Just like what you two said. I had to play around with it. I agree that the 6-8 inch drop is the best point do close my boot.

Happy it worked out for you. Sometimes it just takes a change in approach to remedy a situation.
