Aftermarket wheels that fit R56 JCW brakes

Thanks to Krut, who stopped in today and allowed me to test a bunch of wheels on his new R56 JCW. We tried the following wheels:

- Rota Torque, 17x7.5" +45 FITS!

- Rota SVN, 17x7.5" +45 FITS!

Size: 65.4 KB
- Rota Slipstream, 17x7.5" +45 FITS!

- Rota RB 16x7 +40 DOES NOT fit. (No surprise there, but I thought I'd try.)
- Rota RB 17x7.5" +45 DOES NOT fit, but might with a 5mm spacer.
- Linea Corse MC 18x8" +45 DOES NOT fit, but will with a 3mm spacer.

Cool! How many sets did you try?

Are there any measurements out there that I could see if my wheels will fit?

Awesome. We really ought to get a big ol' list going so we can keep track of what wheels will and will not work.

Much thanx, but Awe... serious bummer on the results of the RB... I had my heart set on it. I don't think I want to use spacers as that'll increase the scrub radius and thus torque steer. ..SVNs are pretty kewl I guess!

Stock Challenge wheels and tires are 42.0 lbs as weighed by Mach V's postal scale.

I'll add that Dan and I are almost positively sure 17" BBS RV-F will clear the Brembo's easily. I have a set that are itching to go on.

So Mach V Dan - what did you think driving mine with my "squishy" suspension? :-)

Wow, didn't realize that they're that heavy. Are the wheels at FastMINI particularly light, or are the Challenge-spoke wheels particularly heavy? Or both?

I've corrected my earlier post to reflect that's the weight of wheel and tire.

Ah. How much of that is the tire? Just trying to get an idea of how heavy the Challenge spokes are compared to others.

The Challenge Spokes alone are 22 lbs. each which isn't that bad. I'm thinking of powder coating them a matte black when my JCW gets here.

17" Wheel + Tires at 40lbs is quite good! Surprised the run-flats are that light (18lbs). I guess it's because they're kinda narrow compared to what I'd been used to.

42.0, actually.

Comfortable!

Mine is a lot stiffer (I've got OEM Sport shocks, and our Mach V springs on it.) I do like the slot-car handling of the lowered car, but there's something to be said for a compliant ride. Like the times when I can't hear my passengers because the road is bumpy and their speech comes out all stuttery? Then I wish for the soft factory springs and non-sport shocks.

Mach V Dan, i'm loving the Rota torque, matte blk w/ red accent!! Those would be smoking on my PW/Blk JCW clubman. I'll be needing winter tires soon, just trying to justify the Wheels. Besides, i do like the Challenge spoke. Decisions, decisions

I'd like to find some that will fit over that brake setup. I run 16's on r compounds for track events now....running 16's makes a huge difference in our MCS on the track. Please keep us informed on your findings. Thanks

It might be possible with the right rim contour and if you kept the wheel weights towards the inside or on the rim lip, but a 16" wheel would be a very tight fit! There is barely any clearance between the brake caliper's outer edge and the inside rim surface even with 17s (OEM wheels anyway).

Sorry, I don't have a pic handy of a MINI with Slipstreams on it, but search these forums and you should be able to find some.

Wheel + tire is going to vary based on tire weight, but the wheels are 18.15 pounds each.

I like the first ones the best....I decided to paint my gloss or matt black, not sure yet. When I get my car at the shop I will see what will look best.

We've had several calls about this subject this week. I'm searching for some more wheels that fit, so stay tuned.
