Chili Red to Dark Grey Satin Transformation
My 2009 Chili Red JCW Clubbie got hammered with hail recently. Thus, I took the opportunity to completely re-do the color scheme. I went with a Bentley color (Dark Grey Satin). Its flat/satin sheen has a better then expected contrast with the gloss black roof, wheels and accent pieces. Now I just have to figure out how to clean it???

I bought my JCW off the dealer's lot back in April. When I first saw it at the beginning of the year, I wasn't sure about the red roof and mirrors. I loved the interior the first time I peeked in the windows, and really liked the wheels compared to the other stock and sport wheels on the lot.
After playing with the configurator for a couple months, I got the idea that the dealer might want to unload the JCW that had been on the lot since the previous fall. I gave a fairly low offer, they countered $500 higher, so I ended up getting a very loaded JCW for only about $1200-1500 more than my friend got for his S back in December. I blame/credit him for giving me the MINI bug.
I have to say that this is my all-time favorite car. It is so much fun to drive. I had an S2000 back in 2002 and got rid of it because of the noisy ride -- as nice as the 9K RPMs sounded when you revved it up, the loudness of the motor in the cabin got a bit tiring. Also, I got tired of getting beat up by the ultra stiff suspension. Instead of enjoying driving it to and from work, it became very tedious. The MINI's ride and handling are great. Also, now that I've had it for a while, I really like the red roof.

I was also iffy about the red roof with EG but I haven't seen any MINIs with this colour combo on the street so I think it will remain fairly unique. I guess if I tire of it, I could put grey union jack mirror covers and vinyl the roof.

This is paint correct? Not vinyl?

If you are at all like me, you will not get tired of the red roof. I'm liking it more and more.

I've seen plenty of other Red-roofed JCWs but I've yet to see another (in person) with the EG/CR color combo. I love it!

"Jefros--- that's gorgeous! I have to imagine that cost quite a pretty penny!"
Actually - between the insurance pay out secondary to the hail damage and being good friends with the painter, It was not bad at all.
"This is paint correct? Not vinyl?"
Yes. Paint with a special satin clear coat.
I took some better pics. Thanks for looking!

Make it a Clubman and this is mine, even the interior! I was a little unsure about the EG/CR combo but that looks sweet!!!

Its a bit over the top but its unique and no one on the planet has a car that looks like mine. So that is a good thing. Hopefully I never do anything bad or crazy. The cops will surely find me in a heartbeat.
I still grapple with the wing. I like it and hate it. It looks nicer in person as you can see the CF pattern. When I got it some one here on NAM from the UK stated that my car looks like a shopping "trolley." Got a great LOL out of that.
I have also done lots of mods internally too.
My modding fun is done. I am scheduled to get the Integral Audio Soundstage in the next few weeks and I may powder coat the wheels matte black or get Rota RBs in matte black. But I am essentially done.

I understand and my opinion of the wing is also fairly negative. However, the real issue is this. It is a piece of hardware that is more designed for the function of producing downforce. I assume it does this at least reasonably well. But, I don't think it was designed with aesthetics at all. So, to me, taken as a piece of competitive hardware I have no issue. Form follows function. Taken as a piece of aesthetic hardware, it doesn't work for me...

No, just the standard JCW bonnet stripes, but pretty much everything else that's configurable from the factory. I can't order and of the dealer add-on parts. :(

My goal was to achieve a look similar to the Challenge car. That is where the wing and the side graphics come into play. Along the way I also blacked everything out. I know the stripes do not match the Challenge car but I really like to look of these stripes.

Cop magnet was the first thing I thought when I saw it tho.
