I think it's because of the camera angle as I took the shots while squatting down. Also the contrast from the dusty tread exaggerates the gap even more.

My 09 Babyboy

I just got it this summer and I'm loving every bit it, not to mention the whole culture of the Minilife! The love of fellow mini owners is like nothing I have ever seen!

I actually received the car on Oct 31st, but it's been in hiding from the wife for a couple of days to add some of the extras. I'm still not done, I just couldn't work on removing the front bumper in the storage unit, nor dismantle the interior to change out the seatbelts to the red GP ones.
She's had the stripes added (roof graphic took a week+ to arrive as they were on backorder ),Tint, Mirror caps, Scuttles (and a bunch of other Union Jack interior/exterior bits), new shoes (run flats are gone!).
Still have red seat belts, red brake ducts and LED fogs to fit - as well as reverse camera and some other stuff.

Anyway, here's ZMINION in all her glory (and one happy wife too!)

I can honestly say, IT'S BEEN WORTH THE WAIT!!!

Ordered my car last summer without stripes on purpose...wanted to keep it simple. But, kinda missed the "stripe look." So, after thinking about all different kinds of stripe treatments, I finally settled on the JCW bonnet stripes, black with red pins. I could have ordered them from MINI when I built the car, but the configurator wouldn't let you put black stripes on a White Silver car. Okay. I had my dealer order a set and put 'em on. Done and done.
Sometimes, it just takes me a while to figure things out.

Here is my new to me 09 JCW. Bought it with 33K miles on it and had it shipped up from Texas to Chicago. I have had it a week. Basically bone stock with the rear windows tinted. Getting the front windows tinted on Saturday. tossed in new weeather tech liners in the front and cargo area and also bought and installed a new Valantine 1 radar detector. Going to pretty much keep it stock as I spend most of my money and time with motorcycles and racing them. This pic was taken the night I picked it up and the only time its been clean since its been raining or snowing here.

Nice! Dark Silver is my favourite colour on a Mini.
Also, that garage looks badass! Very cool.

Yeah my life pretty much revolves around my kids and also racing motorcycles. I have been roadracing since 2000 and racing supermoto the last 3 years.

Bikes in the stable are the following
08 YZ 450 Supermoto race bike
08 Aprilia SXV 550 street motard
2012 KTM RC8R
2003 Road King Classic

I have been working on the garage for the last year on and off and I am almost done. Couple of little things I need to finish and also ad a gass overhead heater.

New, black NM Engineering 17" wheels are on! Huge visual difference, and the lighter weight (16 lbs. each!) is nice.

Can you describe the difference in feel driving around with the lighter wheels? They do look awesome btw!

Only been on the car for two days, but the immediate difference is slightly faster (off the line) acceleration and better braking. Don't get me wrong...the change is not super dramatic, but it is noticeable.

Leader , Very nice and clean. One of the first MINIs I have seen with factory PDC and the JCW GP2 rear diffuser. Very nice.

JPMM - sorry I missed yours. Looks good as always. I guess the dual stripes kind of hide the inner ones. What is good as a have heard no complaints on PDC interference , as a longer diffuser ( non factory , unless running a challenge one ) might obstruct the PDC function and throw a false "closeness" signal.

Hiyas,

We bought an '08 JCW Vert for mama in August of this year. Nice car! It's her DD but I take an occasional spin in it on the weekends. Lotsa fun. I'm an avid off roader but I do like perf street cars too. I also work a Graphic Designer in the marketing dept. at Banks Power which is pretty much hot rodder heaven. I may put our new WMI kit on the Mini.

Anyway I thought I join this forum hang with like minded enthusiast. Looking forward to meeting some of you at the 3sotm breakfast in Norco!

OH Yeah, she named our mini "Katie" (I think after Princess Kate Duchess of York)

cheers, Oz

PS Here's some Mini ****; our R52:
