You know, you guys are making this decision really difficult

I'm going to do the joey mod this weekend and see how I feel about silver/black wheels.

Well, you could always go back to the challenge spokes, I have only put about 300 miles on them......

I agree that your car needs silver wheels. The color scheme looks really clean and classy. To me, black wheels are for a car that is trying to be, um, too racy. Some cars look really good with black wheels, but to me, silver and polish is where it is at.

I am a strange person, but I always like the 16" bridge spokes on R56's. I don't know why, but they just look right. I realize that you would like larger wheels for performance, but there is something about the 7 spoke wheels on these cars. To me, 5 spokes look too dainty, 6 can look odd, but 7 looks right. The challenges are a double-8 spoke. On my stock MCS, they look off a bit. Once I get the stance corrected, they will look better.

One thing is for sure, we have 5 months of winter coming, so you have time to think. There will likely be some 'black friday' specials coming up.

Take care,
Mike

I sort of regret selling them but I need something new. I get bored easily and I've been itching to change something. Plus, I need 17" wheels to clear the JCW brembos.

I think you're right about the silver, it looks much cleaner on my car. We'll see how I feel after the headlights get painted tomorrow.

I was just looking at outmotoring at wheels. I think that the (out of your price range) Enkei SC05 would be a decent choice, or maybe the Konig Feather. The bronze option in the feather may be an interesting choice with your color combination. Like you said, it is enough to get a headache.

Eh I've considered bronze a few times on PW, but I think w/ the black roof it would just look too busy. If it was a PW top, i'd say differently.

Just make it easy and take my team dynamic 1.2's :P

I almost thought of a bronze joey mod and bronze wheels, but I think I'll stick with silver. I'll take them if you want to give them to me

Joey mod and angel eyes in progress. Hopefully finished tomorrow

No relay, just wires running inside the car to a switch. I'm not sure how I want it done permanently but I'm going to tackle that next weekend. I have an idea for it though. The car has a whole new look to it now and I love it. The only painful thing was that it took the entire weekend.

I sort of want black wheels again...

I would suggest finding a way to tap into the parking lights so they turn on when you unlock the car. That would be fantastic, in fact...that makes me want to do that now! I knew I should have stopped looking at MINI forums before I decided to spend money.

I've thought about that too, but I think I really want to keep them on a semi-hidden switch so I can toggle them on/off from everything else. If you decide to do it and need some help or have questions let me know.

Might take you up on that offer. Where did you get the LEDs?

I hate to say it but... AutoZone for about 20 bucks.

The lights aren't absolutely perfect though and I might try ordering something from oznium.com

Hmm, do you know how big those are and would you do the same size again?

Thanks Mike! I appreciate that. It's always nice to know that people like what I'm doing

I think they're about 1/4" wide and 1/8" thick. The strips are 12" long but you can cut them to whatever length you need. I think the size is almost a perfect fit. I just looked at the lights again, for the first time in the daylight, I think they look really good I might just try to straighten them out a bit if I get a chance.

Ah, I was looking at just prewired LEDs (too lazy to get the shrink wrap and soldering iron out), didn't realize you used a strip. Thinking of grabbing a bunch of the 5mm size to start out with and just gluing them in place from behind.

I don't think there has ever been anyone on NAM that responds as fast as you

Those lights would be perfect size if they were wired differently. If you were to get those, you need 9 bulbs for each headlight, and I really don't think there's enough room since it looks like there is about 1 inch of heavy wire behind each one of those LEDs.

I'm working hard...just maybe not on "work"!

That's good to know! I was about to buy them to be honest, however each wire set is no larger than the LED as a whole and the reviews say they are small and even difficult to strip so I still wonder how much room there is to work with.

Seems like the strips would be more difficult to straighten out, do you have any pictures of the wiring going through the headlight?

I have a set of Enkei PF01 for the track. Very light, and I think attractive as well. I also know of a set for sale at a very good price.

I've been screwed twice now on used wheels, I'm not even going to try that again

I think I'll pick up a set off TireRack right after the holidays.

UPDATE: My car will be for sale this spring, early June at the latest. I just hit 26,500 miles today, and the car is in near perfect shape.

I'm accepting offers at this point if anyone is interested, but I am fully prepared to part the car out and sell it mostly stock. I'm not in a hurry to sell it right now so I will wait for the right buyer.
