Extended Warranty and Extended Maintenence - Advice, please!

After months of waiting, my 2012 JCW Hardtop should finally be delivered in just a couple of weeks.

One final question remains--should I purchase the Extended Warranty or the Extended Maintenence (or both) from MINI upon delivery?

I drive 15-20K miles per year and live in SoCal.

What's the MSRP on these plans? What should I look to pay? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks a lot! So it seems like most people wait until they are near the end of their original warranty and maintenece plan before purchasing? Does the pricing change whether you purchase upfront versus at the end?

Only if the pricing (in general) increases. You'll pay the going rate at the time of purchase unless you can negotiate the price down.

Great! In that case, no point in even contemplating dropping extra money at this point then, right?

Better to save that money...

That's what most people do--wait. Or nix it completely. As that thread discusses, such plans are more often in it for the money (as is any insurance or purchased warranty), but for some, it does end up paying for itself in just a few repairs. I think it's best to know that you'll actually go beyond the standard plans before buying them; otherwise, it's a whole heckuvalotta dough to cough up.

Totally agree. No point in pre-paying if the only risk I'm hedging is the potential price increase in the plan.

Might as well enjoy the car from the first mile until close to the end of the warranty before contemplating such expenses...

MINI wanted a ridiculous price for their warranty and service plans so I said forget it. May look into it in a few years but for now I saved my $$$

but there are other options. Dealer sold us one through Fidelity. when we asked why he stated, less restrictions and at a much lower price.

Wait and see if you still have the car in 4yrs when the warranty is running out. You can always buy a warranty up to the last day it is under the factory warranty, and many times you'll find the last year of your warranty you'll feel like your getting an ad in the mail for a warranty co every week so you'll find a lot of options then.
I don't bother with the extended maint warranty it's too expensive for 2 more oil changes. Plus you should be changing the oil every 5k miles anyway.
