I guess the adrenaline gets the best of me autocrossing sometimes, and on no less than five occasions I've yanked the shift **** clean off. Talk about a distraction. At least it wasn't the steering wheel. I'm planning on getting a new one...UUC, maybe. Anyone else ever do this?

Yes this happens. In my driving school out of 7 minis one driver yanked it off while doing the emergency steering and braking drill. It didn't go back on very well after that. I say add the UUC- it's way cool. The Whalen **** is also very popular. Especially with a custom engraving like your own logo or MCO user name.

I popped my **** off on purpose-right before I replaced it with a momo chrome and graphite short height shift ****.
Works great for me. Better than the old cue ball in my MCS.

To pop the **** off, shift to 2nd gear. grab the **** with two hands and brace yourself then yank really hard and try not to hit yourself in the face when the **** comes off. it isn't hard to do.

Some Momo ***** are taller but I picked one that was built shorter and smaller to fit me better.
it looks similar to this one except mine is chrome not silver finish.

I plan on running my Cooper in HS, and hate the stock ****. It's just a little too big for my hand. I wanted to change it, but was told that changing the gearshift **** will kick me out of HS.... Is that true, or is it one of those "depends on who's teching your car" type of things?

I'm pretty sure changing the shift **** from the stock one will boot you out of any Stock class (SCCA)
