They won't let him go. He's too good with feedback which I guess you can't blame them for. I mean, what would he do otherwise? Drive around the hillside picking up ***** in his F430? Come on, no man wants to do that. Drive an awesome car and pick up girls like it's your job...

I think there will be a lot of trading times back and forth. Renault seems to be improving finally, but Michael is still very fast. I've seen him or Massa at the top of the charts on a regular basis. Don't forget, though, that these are tests, not races--who knows what they are looking for each day?
Massa sure has come up in the world; how far as Rubens fallen?

I think even the most die hard Alonso haters have to agree the guy gets the most any car can give, and without wrecking it. I don't think Renault will be with the front runners this season, but the new stuff he's helped to develop has been a greater advance for the team since he left at the end of 2006.

I've been one of those (die hard Alonso haters) but that's what I've been saying too, and he's even rather humble about it. I've hardly even heard him blame the car this time around! It's hard to admit, but I actually respect the guy this year.

As of this point, I think it's going to be Phil or Kimi. I'd love to see Phil get a WDC, the boy's due. I think BMW might take a couple races. I think McLaren is going to suffer like last year, in their lack of driver management skills.
Renault is out of it, but I'm really interested to see how well the car develops with Fred back in the seat. I think Piquet better hope his contract is ironclad, but he's been spectacularly unimpressive so far.

I did find it interesting that Alonso doesn't consider McLaren competitive. (Rats--can't find the link!)
Here's an article about the slicks:

Also found this interesting:

Then again, Bernie wants crashes (too bad they don't race 2-seat F1 cars!). Maybe we should just thow him the "keys" and tell him to have a go at it!

wow slick tyres next year? that's great
i think we're all jealous of schuey.
he gets to drive the latest and greatest from ferrari whenever he wants and still have a lot of free time.
it really shows his love of driving because you don't hear from a lot of retired drivers ever again.
when the cars were in park ferme and schuey was checking out the competition, you really had the impression that he knew what he was looking at and could provide even more feedback to the factory.
why not utilized the man's great technical skills?

Alonso said there never was a conflict with Hamilton:

I think he's trying to lay the groundwork for "I can work with Kimi."
When pigs fly...
