I just read this and it made me think WTF?

Is Schu now a Ferrari test driver?

Go away, please.

Yeah, Schu has been playing with the cars all season, and pre-season.

They won't let him go. He's too good with feedback which I guess you can't blame them for. I mean, what would he do otherwise? Drive around the hillside picking up ***** in his F430? Come on, no man wants to do that. Drive an awesome car and pick up girls like it's your job...

I don't think he's that kind of guy--from all accounts he's very devoted to his family and is intensely private. In fact, he's said that he left racing to spend more time with them.

I think there will be a lot of trading times back and forth. Renault seems to be improving finally, but Michael is still very fast. I've seen him or Massa at the top of the charts on a regular basis. Don't forget, though, that these are tests, not races--who knows what they are looking for each day?

Massa sure has come up in the world; how far as Rubens fallen?

I think even the most die hard Alonso haters have to agree the guy gets the most any car can give, and without wrecking it. I don't think Renault will be with the front runners this season, but the new stuff he's helped to develop has been a greater advance for the team since he left at the end of 2006.

I've been one of those (die hard Alonso haters) but that's what I've been saying too, and he's even rather humble about it. I've hardly even heard him blame the car this time around! It's hard to admit, but I actually respect the guy this year.

I've always liked him. Maybe it's those sideburns I'm jealous of... I kind of wanted to see him stay with McLaren and Hamilton and see what they could do this time around. But, they do have Heikki this year and he has proven to be quite rediculous.

As of this point, I think it's going to be Phil or Kimi. I'd love to see Phil get a WDC, the boy's due. I think BMW might take a couple races. I think McLaren is going to suffer like last year, in their lack of driver management skills.

Renault is out of it, but I'm really interested to see how well the car develops with Fred back in the seat. I think Piquet better hope his contract is ironclad, but he's been spectacularly unimpressive so far.

I did find it interesting that Alonso doesn't consider McLaren competitive. (Rats--can't find the link!)

Here's an article about the slicks:

Also found this interesting:

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/170420...rs-remain.html

Then again, Bernie wants crashes (too bad they don't race 2-seat F1 cars!). Maybe we should just thow him the "keys" and tell him to have a go at it!

wow slick tyres next year? that's great

i think we're all jealous of schuey.

he gets to drive the latest and greatest from ferrari whenever he wants and still have a lot of free time.

it really shows his love of driving because you don't hear from a lot of retired drivers ever again.

when the cars were in park ferme and schuey was checking out the competition, you really had the impression that he knew what he was looking at and could provide even more feedback to the factory.

why not utilized the man's great technical skills?

Alonso was running the current car with the current levels of downforce. Schui was running the car under the new downforce rules, that's why he was slower...........

That's if he can keep from getting bumped off:

Don't do it, Michael!

I've been one of Fred's most vocal critics over the past couple of seasons but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind, nor has there ever been, that he is an absolute tier 1 talent . . .

For my money Kimi and Fred are the top. This duo was once a trio, but Schumi retired.

I was just watching Wind Tunnel, and Dave Despain's interview with Paul Stoddart.

A conservative estimate is that we will see Paul back in F1!

Ooo. Paul replacing Randy Max? He was saying Mosely's got to go, and a businessman should be head of the FIA......

Hah! I don't think Stoddart has much chance of making it to that post, but if he did it might make for some real entertainment. I think it would be about the same as giving the job to Dietrich Mateschitz or Eddie Jordan.....

Alonso said there never was a conflict with Hamilton:

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/210420...-hamilton.html

I think he's trying to lay the groundwork for "I can work with Kimi."

Doesn't answer weather Hamilton had a problem with him.

Alonso did some despicable stuff against his own team.

Not the kind of guy Ferrari should get in my opinion

esp since Ferrari supposedly cheats so much

And then of course there was McLaren (Ron Dennis) doing some despicable stuff against Alonso.

Loyalty ends when you know you're getting hung out to dry by your team.

Let's also not forget when Scott Speed was ready to bust his team principal in the mouth for being a douche. What are the details behind that anyway? Wasn't SS blamed for not doing well when it was mostly a crappy car?

. . . Vettel came in and was almost right away competitive (mid field). At least demonstrated a significant boost in results . . .
