Anyone here been to the Canadian GP before? If so, do you know if you can rent two-way headsets and scanners there? I know you can get the Kangaroo TV but since we've got a huge screen right near us at the track I'm not really interested in that.
Here's the kind of headset I'm looking for:
Also, if anyone has a set they're not using that week, I'd be glad to rent them from you.
Thanks!
Mike

I did see that Top Gear. (He didn't lap the Silverstone GP circuit, though, just some smaller loop.) It was amazing how difficult it was for him to just get the car moving from a stop. We also got a nice cockpit-level view that we never get from TV. They really can't see much around them, but at the speeds they travel they've got to be looking way, way down the track.
It was very instructive in showing that regardless of driver aids, it takes a lot more than a monkey to jump in and control one of these beasts.

Varsha and Co. are wondering about Ferrari's increase in horsepower after the FIA gave them permission to fix an engine oiling problem in the name of reliability.

No, they aren't........
They said some of the other teams were wondering about it because it seems like Ferrari had more HP, but what they also said was they thought it was down to AERO, not HP.......
Pretty good race, at least for Massa!
The Hamster did well to finish as high as he did given 3 stops compared the the Red Horses 2....
All in all, this year is really much better than the last two in terms of competetiveness.
Most are saying Monaco suits the current Ferrari very well - fair warning!

Great race by McLaren and Hamilton in Turkey. Their strategy was brilliant, though apparently they hoped for better given Ron Dennis' comment to Peter Windsor on the grid that the car was good enough for pole and Hamilton over-drove in Q3.
Here's a thought: Since the odd-numbered spots on the grid are generally on the clean line, and the even-numbered spots are on the dirty line, why not give the even-numbered qualifiers the option to trade places with the next-slowest qualifier? P2 trades with P3, P4 trades with P5, etc. That way you would be rewarded for qualifying 2nd rather than "penalized" when the 3rd-place starter has better traction off the line than you do.

I am vacationing in Italy right now. While strolling in Venice last night, we discovered not just one, but TWO Ferrari merchandise shops! I figured I could get the results for the race, and it was wonderful for them to be announced on the same "level" as how soccer scores would be told. I sure wish the U.S. would really get behind F1, instead of NASCAR. The second store actually had a 2002 Ferrari inside the store, and other than the do-not-touch signs, it was as close as I've even gotten to one, even at Elkhart Lake's vintage races. It was mounted nearly at eye-level, and you could admire everything including the fine exhaust tips, which are (on the 2002 model, anyway) beautifully machined ovals, befitting such a curvatious car!
We will try to drive the Monaco circuit later in the week, if it is not already barricaded, anyway. I've read that it is possible earlier in the week before a race, and I have street-by-street directions...

I just watched the race again and I loved the fight between Glock and Kovalainen ('round lap 33 I think) -- Heiki eventually made the pass but Timo is a really scrappy driver and definitely made him work for it. If you have it recorded, it's worth another look....IMO.

Ooo--don't spoil it for me. I have to wait until the 22nd before I can watch it!

We were in Monaco last week, and ran the course. If you ever get a chance, DO IT! It was a blast! I think the metal barriers are up all the time since we saw no evidence of wrench marks on the bolts. The ads, archways, and tire barriers are up for the race this weekend, of course. We saw Ferraris, Aston Martins, exotic Mercedes sports cars we don't get here, Alfas, Audis, and even a Fiat 500! MINIs too, of course--lots of 'em. We ran it in an Alfa 159.
What surprised both of us was how small and tight the course is. I'd always heard that Monaco has few passing opportunities, and they're right! Looks very difficult, and pole position is everything.
Also, at the Milan airport there was a Ferrari shop, selling the usual Ferrari-branded stuff. Also had some helmets--tried to get Hubby to let me buy the carbon fiber model for local autocrosses. Hey, what else are you going to spend 500 Euros on, right?

Managed to find it amongst the NASCAR and Pinks BS on the still sucking Speed website.
