#2
SCCA stock class is restriced to the following
'modifications"
Air filter
Brake pads
Cat-back exhaust
Shocks
.25" wheel spacers
any DOT tire that will fit on a stock sized wheel (you can use DOT r compound tires)
any wheel (you want them to be lighter) that is the same dimentions as stock
That's basically it
Have fun and stay away from the Type R

The Cooper S is in DS the base cooper is in HS
In H the base Cooper is a very capable car, in D the Cooper S is down on HP.
As for the shocks: you can only change the shocks, springs are not permitted. You are allowed to go to adjustable shocks.
I also forgot one "mod" you're allowed to make for autocross, you can get a "racing" alignment. Unfortunately, the stock MINI can't get a lot of apreciable camber gain in stock trim. This was a problem for a lot of the nationaly competitive HS MINI drivers. The cars were fast but due to limited camber in the front most of the MINI's contact patch was on othe outside edge of the tire and tires corded on the edges quickly. This can make autocrossing the MINI in a stock class rather expensive, a set of Hoosiers cost about $800 and I know of some people were getting only 4 events per set.

Might be off topic, but maybe not. Just informational.
New drivers to these events can run in Novice Class and still take home trophys. S.Cal SCCA Solo II/Autocross at Qualcom stadium 10/20/2002.
We need more MINI's running at these events. Would be nice to see a "S".
