SCCA race at Barber

SCCA race at Barber
To any Mini race fans, my #53 Cooper S will be competing in the Double event at Barber Motorsports park in Birmingham, Al. on July 10th & 11th.
This will be my 1st SCCA race since the races in February during the SCCA race school at Roebling Road.
The car has undergone some improvements since then and should perform better.
I'm especially anxious to drive at Barber, it looks like a great track that will work well for the MINI. I was there last year for the inaugural race to watch Nuzzo's team Minis.
Unfortunately, SCCA puts the Minis in SPO (super production over 2,5 liters) instead of with the ITS group. So no telling what I will be racing against...All I know is that it should be a great experience.
In August I will be racing at Texas Motorsports Ranch with the BMWCCA.
Inthat series I will be in the J prepared class. Also looking forward to that event.
Anyone interested in getting into road racing, I will be happy to share my recent events & experiences.
Regards,
Paulo

I have done one BMWCCA race, J prepared (Mid Ohio). I race another class in SCCA nationals so I don't get to go to Regionals, I will try to get into SPO later this year at post Run-Offs regionals. Ole PKT RKT has a JCW package, H&R springs, Koni adjustables, aluminum flywheel with double secret clutch and the Quaiffe diff.

Hello PKT RKT,
Thanks for the reply. Barber this past weekend was great!...310 entries, 6 groups each with at least four classes within the group.
The Mini was a success in the "attention getter" dept. but at a great disadvantage against the Monster Vettes, Vipers, M5's, E36 M3's, Mustangs, RX7's etc...I beat the Rx7 GT3 car, the Panoz Gt, some Vettes.
Finshed 9th in class on Saturday, 8th on Sunday (18th O.A., 16th O.A.) in a fiels of 24 cars. The car was great except for the brakes, need to improve stopping power.
Sounds like are cars are very similar in mods.
Will have pictures soon, also have great in-car videos.

PS: BMWCCA race ar Texas Motorsports Ranch is next in August.

Race at Motorsport Ranch
Hey, those E-3o M3's are fast an dusually well driven.
I had a great time racing those guys for the first time but it was not all due to what was under the the hood.
I think my results were also due to my Brazilian driving style whch came into play on that twisty technical track. It was perfect for the Mini.
Some of the M3 guys were definitely faster than I by 2sec./lap so getting a third out of seven m3's in class was hard work.
All in all it was a great race weekend.
