After confirming with club president Dave Hutter today, I'm happy to report to you that Gulf Coast Autocrossers will resume autocross events on September 4th and 5th. Evidently there was no storm damage at Buckingham Airfield east of Ft. Meyers.
Those coming down I-75 from Sarasota County and northward, please bear in mind that you will be passing through the Hurricane Charley disaster area and should plan accordingly. Gas may be in limited supply in the Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda areas as many stations were heavily damaged. Also traffic may be heavy in Charlotte County due to the relief efforts.
On Saturday they have the practice and Novice School. It is a good opportunity to get a bunch of laps in cheap, only $15 for the whole day and a free Lunch to boot. If you decide to go to the Novice School it's covered under the same fee. If you're going to the Novice School, you need to be registered and tech'd by 9AM as they start a little earlier than the regular practice.
On Sunday is the actual autocross. You usually get 3 or 4 runs on a 1.1 mile course. $25 covers the event and lunch. They also have a Novice class for each regular class. MINI's tend to dominate G Stock, H Stock, STS, and STX classes. Hope to see some of you there.
