Anybody know about the new Panasport C5CR1 wheels? Panasport is making them for MINI's racing in SCCA stock class. I haven't read any reviews about them, but the advertising is that a 16x6.5 wheel weighs in at 15 lbs. It's not as nice looking as some of the other wheels that have been discussed here at MCO, but at least it's a stock 16" size! Seems like that elusive 16x6.5 wheel is hard to find.

Mark Chiles used the Panasports on his Cooper at the SCCA nationals (thats his car on the MIDATLANTIC MOTORSPORTS and KSPEED web sites), nice wheels. Another option are the wheels offered by AK tires $175 ea.

BBS made a custom set for the Grassroots Motorsports car but they are heavy, about the same as V-spokes.

Kodiak also makes wheels that are light, but very spendy $$$.

Pick the look you like.

Thanks for the info Motoring! Since I'm looking for stock size wheels that don't break the bank I guess I'll have to opt out on the Kodiak Wheels. Too spendy.

Is AK Tires still making those SSR knockoffs in the 16x6.5 size? They don't mention anything on their website. I guess I'll have to give them a call.

On the Panasport tires are those wheels durable enough for street use too, or race use only? I'm thinking about using the same set for autocrossing in the summer and for my snowtires in the winter.

The Panasports are probably stronger than the wheels from AK tires (yes they are still available, they were never advertised on the website) Personally I wouldn't use either for snow tires.

Yes AK Tires should have their new lightweight wheels (13 lbs) in stock this thursday the 16th. The wheels meet all the required standards so its just a case of which style of wheel you like and what price you are prepared to pay. I have a set on order in white and cant wait to put them on my car. I originally ordered them just for autocross but my 17" white stockers are a pain to clean so i may just keep that different look for a while. I will post pictures as soon as I get them. Cheers Limey.

I called KSPEED and the C5CR1s are 14.75#. I really would like someone to make 6.5" wide Racing MiniLites lookalikes (Panasports). I may just wait for SSR and TireReack to get together and buy the 6.5" Comps when available. They should be about $300 each (my estimate, not TireRacks).

Does Panasport make a 6.5" wide rim in 16s? I was informed that all 16" Panasports were 7".

Which wheel from AK is 13#?

That's odd. KSpeed's site indicates the Panasport C5CR1 are 16 x 6.5"

My mistake, when I hear Panasport I automatically think MiniLite copies.
