Time Distance Rally Info????

We participate in these as often as possible. A TSD rally has nothing to do with "speed" it is 100% based on acuracy (according to the rally director). Things that we always bring are:
stop watch
dictionary
GOOD MAP
scrap paper
pens
calculator
beverages
I assume you have a computer in your MINI so you will get a good chance to use it.
A few "tips"
1. If you see another rally driver that started ahead of you stopped on the side of the road DO NOT STOP thinking that you must be moving too fast - each leg of the race (between checkpoints) is independent so no worries - besides they may be lost
2. NEVER turn "off the road" or go onto private property - it will most likely be the wrong way
3. Do not kill your navigator - it sometimes gets frustrating but remember it's all for fun!

It will be all on backroads and last about 2-2 1/2 hours. Kind of a mini rally. Unfortunately the average speed is about 45mph.

Remember its not a race against other cars, its a race against the clock to be right on the right time ... so, if your caught in traffic you got to catch up, do not speed where you dont need to . ... the tough part to do without an automatic tsd computer is "How fast must you drive" to stay on your time marks
It can be intensive. Your going to be far more worried about your driving speeds to worry about navigating so you HAVE to depend upon your navigator
HAVE FUN! Dont get stressed out and just remember you be the newbie so Have a BALL!
BTW if the average speed is 45, that dont mean squat because you have no idea of the traffic conditions and your trying to be plus/minus seconds of the target times

2-Have the navigator read the generals
3-Don't forget to read the generals
4-Have fun
5-Did I mention you need to read the generals VERY carefully?
If you are actually trying to stay on time you'll find that an average of 45 is fairly brisk.
Don't forget to have fun.
Rich
PS-Don't underestimate how important it is to read the generals. <G>
