A day at Thunderhill...
Just got back from Thunderhill running with the Shelby Club...
First off, a big thanks to John Petrich! I lost my belt at the end of my second session, and not only did he have extras, but the tensioner tool as well. I missed the last session of the day, but at least I got to drive my car home!
Second, I got my wife to do the drivers school! I'm hoping she'll get the driving bug as well, but I've got to go slow, so she doesn't feel pressured and just blow it off. I'm hoping to create a family hobby, and the first step went well! She did the driver's course (a bunch of stages around the track to practice specific stuff, all with coaches. Skid-pad work, and then a session on a clear track! She liked it a lot! But since it was drizzling in the afternoon, she didn't want to go out for the rest of the day...
Third, My little girl got sick Sat night, and we had to go to the emergency room! Alison is fine (but cranky and with an on again off again fever) but it really ruined the last day of driving. I'm a bit dissapointed, as it was mid 60s and sunny today, but the little girl comes first! Cheryl and I were very short on sleep, so we just headed home early.
fourth, anyone who wants to track should come out with the Nor-Cal Shelby Club. Not expensive, coaches if you want them, and a really great group of people! In the novice group, there were Minis, a 2002, a corrado, a bunch of Mustangs, a Ford GT, a Shelby Daytona Coupe clone, a Ferrari 308 and a bunch of other fun cars (lots of Mustangs of all vintages, and tons of 5.0s)
Next run that is open to non-ford powered cars is in Oct at Thunderhill again. There were 4 minis out this time, lets' a get a few more!
