Can you recommend a good shipping company?

Also, inexpensive would be nice. I am shipping a car cross country West to East and have had quotes from $750.00 to $1600.00. With larger cars I have shipped from $385.00 to $600.00. I understand that the wheel separation on the MINIs is too small for a large car carrier truck. Some say it needs to be boxed. Others say it needs to go inside an 18 wheeler. Any suggestsions besides flying out and driving it back (a good possibility).

I don't know if they are still in business, but I used F&S Shipping back in 2000 -- and I still rave about them.

(602) 432-9384 (mobile)

I've got another lead -- they ship in covered trailers -- that I need to run to ground.

I used DAS Auto Shipping, not great not terrible, fair prices. Shipped a VW Cabrio from SanFran to NJ for ~$600, it's about the same size as the Mini.

I've seen many high end vehicles shipped with Waggoners Transportation delivering all over the country. They provide covered, insured and satellite tracking for your security. I don't work for them but have seen so many top end cars in the trailers. Check them out.

Fly out, drive back. Quality bonding time is something to be appreciated, not thrown away by paying a soul-less shipper. Take a digi-cam, document the whole trip. You will look back on it and smile.

I was quoted over $2,000 for shipping Ohio to Anchorage, the 4,000 mile drive cost just over $1,000 for food, gas, & lodging. If you have the time, the ride (which in a MINI is great) is worth the savings, plus you get to know your new MINI.

Going from Oklahoma City to Silver Spring, MD. Best quote $720.00

Quotes have been all over the place from 700.00 to 1600.00.

As for the bonding.....hmmmm. Well you got the airline tickets, then you got the $150.00 gas, and then you got the 20 hours driving and the one night stay somewhere $100.00 and then you got roadfood...hmmmmmm, and then you got the tolls???? and then you are looking at way over $700.00 easy. So, if its about the luv, I guess you are right. And the car is being broken in and can't be driven over 4500.00 rpm...hm...... but in an mcs jcw in 6th gear that adds up to what top speed???? and then you got the speeding tickets.... hmmmm

Who did you get a quote from of 750? I've been looking as well and haven't been able to find anything that low.

I bought my MINI off e-bay and shipped it from Tennessee to Utah. I checked around and ended up using DAS - Dependable Auto Shippers. They were a little more than some of the others but they claimed that because of the make of the car they had to ship it in a closed container rather than letting it "flap in the breeze" getting bugs and rock chips thrown up from the truck. They gave me a two week ETA but it only took 7 days. I was pleased.
