Soon some twists in Dubai
Hi,
i planning to go back to Dubai.. for 2 months on Nov. & Dec 2007... already have some MINI plans lol
am planning of renting a MINI S for couple of days.. and try some twists (the Jabal Hafeet Road)
here are pictures of the place to enjoy some twists
info about the road:
The Jebel Hafeet Mountain Road in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the greatest driving road in the world. Stretching for 7.3 miles and climbing nearly 4,000 feet, it boasts 60 corners and a surface so smooth that it would flatter a racetrack. It could easily be described as the eighth wonder of the world, but almost nothing is known about its creation.
The road is cut into the Jebel Hafeet mountain, the highest peak in the United Arab Emirates, the oil-rich Persian Gulf state. The mountain spans the border with Oman and lies about 90 minutes' drive southeast of the thriving city of Dubai. It looks down upon a dusty, desert landscape that belies a nation of astonishing wealth.(edmunds.com)

I live 1 hour from there!
Its a great road, especially if attacked early in the morning!
Even when temps soar to around 45C in the summer (that is around 115F), the mountain top is in the low 20C in the mornings...Very nice drive and Super Smooth Roads!
I usually take my bike there. Now Cooper S just joined me and will be going up and down also.

Construction is hell in here!
It never ends and there are new roads every day. From week to week, we have many changes on the roads.
However, day by day, all kinds of shops from around the world are opening in Dubai. It makes us feel that everything is available in here (thus, less shopping when travelling!)
The tallest building in here is called Dubai Tower (Burj Dubai). It has already surpassed other buildings in the world (>550 meters high)
Hope you make it here someday to see the rapid change!

Yea, isn't it the tallest and isn't even done yet? And aren't they working on another tower to surpass that? Edit* I believe it's called the Al Burj. Oh...along with the: The World, Burj al Alam, Dubailand, Dubai Sports City, Dubai Marina, The Dubai Mall, Ski Dubai (which is already completed), and the UAE Spaceport. More info here: http://dubai.isnuts.googlepages.com however sometimes the pictures do not show up.
