Downloadable RPM to MPH calculator

Downloadable RPM to MPH calculator
I created an excel work sheet that calculates the engine speed in RPM compared the vehicle speed of the car. You can input the data from your car. I used data from my 08 MCS. Different wheel size and transmission ratios may differ for your car but you can use your car's data to make it accurate. Just record the engine speed and MPH in each gear. It does not matter what RPM you actually read the MPH - its just the ratio that it needs. For example, you could enter the 4th gear Speed at 55MPH at 3,000 RPM or the Speed of 37 MPH at 2,000 RPM. Just get a reading in each gear of an RPM and its respective MPH reading.
The section Effect of gear change in RPM shows what the engine speed will be if you change gears. For example, if you are going 101 MPH at 5500 RPM in 4th and mistake downshift into 3rd instead of upshiftong into 5th, the engine speed will race to 7,378 RPM's.
Because it is an excel sheet that does calculations you will have to download it if you what to customize it or enter a given RPM or MPH. If anyone knows of a free web site to post a downloadable excel sheet, please let me know. meanwhile you can download it from my company web site http://www.hightechofficesystems.com...Calculator.xls
I hope this makes sense to anyone interested.

k_h_dThanks for posting this. What year car do you have? 2002-2004 have a different ratio of gears than 2005 and 2006

Thats the math bro. I am not recomending trying it! The idea of the calculator is that you can input any MPH and learn what the RPM would be in any gear without actually doing it!
yeah...of course ...I'm just kidding..you guys are too seriouse..

This is pretty neat. I love excel.
I did find a few things:
Misspelling of "Vehicle" in the comment at B22.
Oh and my shift pattern is:
I assume this functions properly for automatics too though I'm not sure why you include the shift pattern at all.

Code:

boostednorm,
You are correct; it will work for automatics too. The only reason why I showed the sift pattern of the manual trans is that it helps visualize how a miss shift into the wrong gear could happen. The shift pattern has nothing to do with the calculations.
Also, I do appreciate input. Thanks! When I get a chance I'll correct the spelling error

So true... many posts on that issue. I wish there was a way for the user to modify the speedometer.
Missing a shift... in previously owned cars I had issues with 2nd to 3rd shifts while drag racing. Too soon or too late.
Bruiser will be an Auto so I won't have to lift to shift. I'll just "paddle" to speed.
