My MINI Needs a Name, Please Help!

OK so i posted this in Does Your Mini Have a Name? and got a few helpful post and i didnt want to crowd up that thread so now here i am.

here is what occured in the other thread:

So i need some help picking a name. It was either gonna be Hero or Buddy/bud so i decided to go with buddy unless others like hero. But i was thiking about spicing it up on the Buddy part, here are some other translations for buddy since hero didnt translate so well

German:
-Kumpel... kinda cool
-Knospe (bud)

British: (you know austin powers britt and our cars symbol)
-Bloke
-Mate
-Chum

oh then there is 'Mucker' or mucca wich is british for pal

can someone help me!!

I'm on board with Kumpel or Chum. You could also call it Chumley; adding the "ley" gives a nod to the walrus from the old Tennessee Tuxedo cartoon (not that that has anything to do with MINI..it's just different).

I like Bloke or Chum - if you chose Mate, few but MINIsts would understand...and it might take on a "darker" sex-related connotation you weren't looking for! I like Hero, too.

------------------------------------------------------

HAha wow thanks.... so lets see the count is

Chum - 2
Bloke - 1
Kumpel - 1
Hero - 1

Haha i love it! I remember him, too funny. What a great idea. Your idea gave me another one though. Remember the Wacky Races?? I could use a name from that, like Muttley, or the The Red Max, something like that. I thought it would be neat. That show was tooo funny

AHAHAHA yeah i thought about that, i said you know that isnt gonna be good. Hero was one of my first choices, and i was thinking baout that because he is my hero, but its also for my dad so...

------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is gonna be so much harder than i expected...thanks everyone , feel free to keep posting ideas...i may have to start a thread for this.

Feel free to post any ideas!!

THANKS!

I love your username -- a "mixed-blood MINI" -- too funny!

I know you're looking for a different type of name, but I can't help but think of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. So you could name it Tom Riddle.

I vote for Chum or Mucker!

AHA - You can't escape me, I'm on all the threads!!!

Just kidding.

I was thinking about it. You want British, I'm assuming?
****** (not a nice name, but I think it's a funny word)
LoveJoy (like the British antiques dealer/detective)
Hunley (sounds British?)
Muttley - I still like that one!!

And the rest of my good suggestions are of course at work. If you're still looking for assistance Monday, I'll check in...

Kumpel is kind of cool.

Might I sugest:

Ijin (E Jin)- Hero/Giant/Great Person in Japanese
Tomodachi - Friend in Japanese
Tomoko - Japanese girl name; Friendly Child
Aibo - Pal, Partner, Buddy in Japanese

I kind of like Muttley! It goes with your "Mixed blood Mini" very nicely!

Chum is good, except when you think of fish. I like Mate when it's paired with "Cheers, Mate!" Otherwise, it will attract attention that you may not want!

Also from Harry Potter. . . Tonks? She can change her appearance at will. I also like her own greeting to folks: Wotcher!

So there are 3 more offered for your consideration: Tonks, Wotcher, Muttley.

Cheers! (Muttley is my favorite of those three!)

haha its great i love all your help this is awesome! and yeah i was kinda leaning towards the british side cause...it is a mini
I do like lovejoy and Hunley. Hunley has a dif meaning around here because of the USS Hunley submarine but i do like the sound of it.
...SO many to choose from! this might take awhile. (but Muttley is still pulling strong)

Cant wait to here more

What Riffster said. When I got behind the wheel and drove Viola home, I knew that she was a girl. When I started thinking about what to call her, Radiohead's "Paranoid Android" came on... that song opens with the line, "Please could you stop the noise, I'm trying to get some rest..." which just really seemed to give me this weird vibe about the car that also felt completely right. That's why I refer to the car as being my "pale and tragic emo girl."

The minute I knew her personality, I knew her name had to come from Shakespeare, so I reached into my memory and pulled out "Viola" from Twelfth Night. She seemed to like it.

The suggestion above reminded me of a couple of other British ideas that are similar ... but different.

RIDLEY (as in Ridley Hall at Cambridge)

... or ...

RIPLEY (as in "Believe It or Not")

If you go Chum you could use 'Chum' from Finding Nemo as your mascot.

Mine didn't tell me it's name until almost a whole year later, so don't think you have to do it RIGHT NOW. Hasn't even told me if it's a tomboy or a boy!

Wow so man more ideas...im up to like 50 thanks everyone.

I tried fitting a name and i cam up with buddy, but thats just cause i call him my buddy so now a name is needed so others can refer to him. My mini is def a him even thought its my baby...is that weird???

viola is a great name though, nice job

I doo like ripley, and the chum mascot idea is awesome! Once again an idea of someones gave me another. Remember jacques the cleaning shrimp in finding nemo. He was one of the tank gang, thought that might be a good name. I loved the french accent too

I still got more thinking to do...i know one will hit me and be perfect

OK - I am going out on a limb here. You looked like you were into a name with an English bent. And you are in the Carolinas. Also, MINIs have a tendancy to be notorious. How about "Blackbeard"? Too dark? "Scallywag"? Still too nefarious? More innocuous and fun-loving required? How about "Scamp"?
