BMW alarms and cold weather

Hello everyone:
I just recently acquired a JCW09 with the factory alarm system and I noticed that it keeps been activated by nothing more than a cold breeze*. This is only happened when it's been outdoors in the past couple of weeks.
Today as I was sitting in my living room I kept hearing the alarm go off but realize that my mini was back in my studio. Anyways, I looked out the balcony and noticed an brand new X5 doing the same thing.
Is this a common issue with late models? I've always had BMW OEM alarms installed and never had this issue happen in the past.
Thanks everyone,
*below 32 degrees of course.

That's very odd. I have an '09 MCS and have parked overnight in NYC in this cold weather and the alarm hasn't gone off.

Ha! Well I am not sure, but seriously I am not making this up. If I leave the car indoors there's no problem. Maybe is just a setting that might be triggering it by movement? I wonder if I could just pop into BMW Manhattan and use their new express service for this issue. If I figure something out Ill post it here for future reference.

fdavid,
I've recently been having the same problem. It's usually been around 15 deg F when I get to work (Anchorage, AK). About an hour to hour-and-a-half later the alarm goes off. No foot prints or tire tracks in the snow near SPARTY. It has not been consistent but the first day it went off was a day when we were having ice fog. I turned off the interior sensors this morning to see if it will help.

I'm thinking maybe SPARTY just doesn't like the cold. Does anyone offer full-cover MINI blankets?

Anyone have any idea?

Any of your neighbors amateur radio operators? I used to be able to set off car alarms by keying the mike on my radio in my apartment.

There is a LOT of radio usage for the railroad right here. Don't know how to protect from that - maybe put wire mesh in a car cover...
Ummm, maybe not.
I'll see if I can get someone to use a radio right next to my car. Could be interesting.
Thanks.

Mine started doing this last night. It went off at 2:30AM, 4:30AM, 5:00AM, 5:30AM, 5:35AM. I live in the Los Angeles area and it was below 32 degrees at the time.

I would be willing to bet it has to do with wind gusts.

The sensitivity is probably set to high for movement, and the MINI will move around pretty easily in the wind.

It was actually extremely calm last night. My car has been outside with strong Santa Ana winds blowing without having the alarm go off previously. I also did turn off the motion sensor by hitting lock on my key fob twice after the 2nd time the alarm went off to no avail.
