I had the clear bra on two cars including my 05 Vette. A few years ago I ripped it off the Vette. The MINI dealer was pushing one on me still claiming how transparent they are. And they are from distance. For me, though worse with some colors than others they distort the paint and do not look good.

Yesterday I gave him a bath. This morning I finished cleaning the inside. Man it looks and feels like a new car, so I guess its time to burn up the asphalt and start the whole process again.

If you can get your fingernail into the scratch it cannot be buffed out.

Not sure I can get a fingernail in it, its that faint. Is there a product out there that might make it less noticeable? I kept rubbing my wet finger over it, thinking it would wash off...

Are you kidding me??? That's unbelievable that someone would be that lame to scratch your car. I know it happens a lot, but every time I hear it happen to someone I just shake my head in disbelief.

I'm really not sure if this will help, but I've gotten microscopic scratches out using Meguiar's Scratch X. It basically just sands down your clear coat so that the level matches up with how deep the scratch is. Unless it's truly shallow, I think you might need to take it to a professional.

The neighbor's dog pawed the driver's door of my MINI and left a couple of parallel C shaped scratches in the clear coat. I have MINI touch up paint. I dabbed the clear coat touch up on the scratches and let it dry. Then I polished it down with a Langka kit.

http://www.langka.com/

It takes a lot of elbow grease. The Langka system works better on rock chips than scratches, if I look closely I can find my repair, but most people wouldn't be able to see it.

LOL you do realize you just passed up a bone-in filet mignon and a new york steak for a boneless filet mignon?

the porterhouse is 1/2 filet mignon and even better the filet is still attached to the bone. Bone-in always turns out better in my experience.

Mini Today

We took a hundred mile round trip to Limantour Beach in Point Reyes National Seashore. Great long turns and some killer tight turns. Walked for a couple of hours on the beach, went to a friends house to hear his new album and tore it up on the way home. Looking forward to that trip again.

I'm basically going through withdrawl... The Kid is in Brooklyn getting Integral Audio's Soundstage upgrade - the very first install of it's kind. Dropped it off on Monday and will pick it up on Wednesday - so no MINI for me this weekend.

But, boy oh boy will it be worth it motoring home on the Belt Pkwy Wed night! I'll live vicariously through this thread until then.
