Well I did sort of toss the instructions to the side at a certain point, in typical guy fashion it was amazing I left them out as long as I did. I put the two L brackets on and played the incredible hulk to get them straight enough to put the bar on then attached the light housings, go the aim close put the lamps in and then readjusted them for fine tuning after a little drive around the neighborhood. I'll try and get you some better pictures tomorrow.

Today I added some coolant, still mentally working up to removing the SC to replace the o-ring that's cracked.

Today I installed the following items:

Third brake light Pulsar
Ian Cull window circuit board
FES InvisiLens Speedo/Tach faces

Now it needs a bath.

Maybe tomorrow. It's supposed to rain today.

Finished my rear seat delete project.

Took out the seats, crafted a flat platform from 1/2" ply and carpet. Put a little foam rubber underneath for sound deadening. I can lift it from the front seat to put small items underneath.

Ooh....Nice....InvisiLens.... I've been drooling over them for a while....

The other two are on my to-do list as well.

Today's project is to add the jumpers necessary for the rear fog lights to act as extra brake lights. I have also procured some LED 1156 bulbs to swap in the rear fog spots, so that the extra current draw is minimal.... Should be complete within the hour, give or take a bit....

Today I autocrossed Gollum against the big bad Corvettes, courtesy of the Bay State Corvette Club. I have never before run on a course that required 105 seconds to complete. Too much fun!

Cheers,

Charlie

Today's project is done.

Now off to the carwash to blast off the bigger chunks of dead bugs, so I can do the bug & tar remover on the nose and then hit the winders with some Stoner's. There's a club run tomorrow--gotta look spiffy....

So what perzactly is involved in making fog lights pertend to be brake lights? Or light in my case.

She drove me to work today - but I ordered some new bits for her...

Alta short throw shifter
Alta 2" super stubby antenna
Alta oil catch can in red
M7 Ram Scoop
M7 air diverter

Hmmm... I'm debating over some Konig Feathers in Matte Black

See this post for a good batch of pixs. Pins 1 and 4. Diode stripe on the pin 1 side.

This guy shows how it can be done without soldering. Simply put a few kinks in the diode leads so they wedge into the connector and stay put. That's how I did mine, since I have no AC power for my soldering iron out where I park.

The diodes can be purchased at Radio Shack or through Mouser or someone else via mail order. 3A, at least 50 PIV. The ones I used (UF3010s) are good for 1000PIV, simply because that's what I had lying around (I build guitar amps with vacuum tubes and ~500VDC inside). I scooped up a pair of LED 1156 replacements so that the extra lights wouldn't draw appreciably more current than the stock arrangement. It took less than an hour, including the 10 minutes or so it took to get off my butt, the 10 more minutes it took to find the diodes (I moved recently, and haven't fully unpacked my electronics workbench yet), and the 10 more minutes it took to find a roll of electrician's tape, so I could slap some tape on the diode to cover it up.

HTH!

I'm trying to decide if the ceramic tint is worth the extra $$. You'll have to let us all know! I'm in Florida and my interior feels like I've walked into a swamp when I open her up after being at work all day!

More brake lights is better, especially on a small car. I wedged my cheapo windshield shade in the brake pedal for a minute last night around dusk so that I could go around back and have a look, and the extra lights really make a big difference....

Since I'm using LED bulbs in there, I wonder if it is possible to adapt those 3rd-brake-light flasher thingies to flash the rear fog lights only. It looks like they're meant to hook up inline with both the power and ground, so perhaps if I hook the ground on both ends and stick the thing inline with the jumper....

Hmmmm.... I might have to see if I can talk with the guy who makes 'em....

Dutch

I pulled off the H&R coilovers off my '07 MINI that were worn out at 110k and threw on a new set of the OEM factory sport suspension from a new '09 JCW. Gawd the wheelgap is ridiculous but it rides like a caddy in comparison.

S'okay as long as they aren't gaining on me.

Dunno about the pulsar hooked up to the fogs. It does go inline (as in cut wires) for the third brake light. It's a gominigo deal, got it from WMW. Might give them a call & see what they say.

I went ahead and installed the new upper grille on my S. Still need to do the middle one. If anyone has a spare stock antenna though from upgrading to a stubbie, I'll take it. The one my wife has on her Justa is really ugly and needs to go.

Oh also, I saw a BEAUTIFUL second gen bronze Mini for sale a sports and import car lot. I think I fell in love. It was $19k and kinda made me wish we spent a bit more on that than to get my wife's 04 Justa haha. Ah well, next time

If it goes inline and you cut wires, then you're cutting the ground and + wire for the lights. My guess (without having seen the schematic) is that it simply opens and closes the circuit on the + line to turn the light on/off, since that's what would likely be the easiest circuit to design. I'm thinking that if we find out which terminal on each side of the unit gets the + and which side gets the ground, that we can splice the +s into the jumper wire or diode and then just jumper over to ground for the grounds and it'd work....

I'm sure they'd love to sell 3 of those things to ya if it'd work, so it behooves them to answer the question....

C ya,
Dutch
