Good choice. KISS is the best look for a PW/B

Took my Mini to the Steven's Creek dealership to get a free oil change and 30K inspection. While I was waiting I asked the parts dept about getting a newer front bumper with brake air ducts. It just so happened that a service tech is about to install a JCW kit on his wife's clubman and offered to sell me the old kit for half price. It's a brand new kit off the 2012 S, comes with all the necessary mounts and hardware, and just needs to be painted.

I should install the front bumper, intercooler muffler delete, and 27mm front sway bar the first week of next year.

Very nicely done Tata. Great photo op's. I just ordered my Helix IC. Your public garage install has inspired me! Bravo!

So, are you talking random in a pattern on various parts of the car, or random in a Jackson Pollack sort of way?

I washed it for the 1st time today :-)...and got to use a lot of my new products on her. I used "Black WoW" on the fender flares not thinking it would do much, but I was surprised how much it helped on a brand new car
Can tell that much in this pic but they have a lot more shine to them now (i just like this picture with the sun setting in the reflection)

Sounds like a good plan you have there: "keep it simple". I can dig it--you can go red as much as you want under the bonnet, and when you close it, you have a different canvas, on which you can paint a different, sparser picture.

Kinda falls in line with my two rules for life:
  1. Never tell all you know
  2. ...

Can't wait for pics!

That... is excellent. Just stole it and relayed to a friend of mine. A talkative one.

On the red accents: Red is a great accent color - used in small quantities. When overdone it can get to be FAR too much very quickly - and it is FAR too easy to overdo a small car like ours. There's not a lot of canvas, and it's already pretty crowded with accent features (spoiler, scoop, gutter, funny mirrors, body lines... heck, the whole car is an accent feature), so adding too many more accents gets cluttered quickly.

In that same way, I worry about doing much/anything more to my Checkmate, what with the checkered fenders and checkered mirrors and silver top on a black car... adding anything really gets to be "too much" very quickly. Example: I threw black covers on the light bar (4 driving lights) and was complimented: "What did you add? It looks great!", when what I did was effectively subtracting...

It's nice to see people w/ the same philosophy. I spent a lot of time and energy going very subtle on the exterior... color coding the arches, blacking out the "S" badges, powdercoating the wheels, de-oranging the bulbs:

Then, once you open up the bonnet, BANG! As much red as I can cram in there!

In my younger days (and on more than one occasion), I've chased those people home and scared the living sh*t out of them. Not so much anymore.
