General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
Also installed a new CARBONMINI carbon fiber dash overlay kit and CARBONMINI carbon fiber door trim overlay kit. I was told by Erin at CARBONMINI that I have the only R56 in the U.S. that has these kits.
That kit is very nice. Looks good on your MINI. Saw it on FB when she posted pics of it on her MINI. Haven't had a chance to get more goodies from them but the CF material is very good and the customer service is top notch. Love me some CFMINI!
If you don't mind me asking, how much did the kit come out to? Or you can just pm me the info. I was afraid to ask Erin the price. LOL!

Erin would be more than happy to give you the price. I will say this, you can expect to spend up to $895, maybe a little less, per kit.
Today, I installed a Helix short shifter and deleted the resonator. After that, I installed an ATI dampener (crank pulley) and installed a16% supercharger pulley. I am waiting on a new set of bushings for the tensioner to arrive. Way at WMW is overnighting them to me.
Tomorrow? I am installing powerflex bushings on the trans mount and hopefully my vibra technics upper engine mount arrives as well as my Alta oil catch can. Should be a fun and busy day.
i have change the clutch 2 days ago,the car works great, but i having some trouble to contain my self to hit the gas because of the BREAK IN PERIOD of the new clutch but is the price i have to pay for destroying the old one, ill be patience what more can i do
Husband and I are plasti-dipping stuffs on our MINI's (well...he's doing it all lol). I did all the chrome pieces and the grille on my car. He did his grille, mirrors, and is in the process of doing his roof! Can't wait to see how that turns out He so badly wants the red/black over the red/white lol
Today I installed an Alta oil catch can and a Vibra Tecnics upper motor mount. I have done a lot this week and tonight I got to take him out for a nice ride. Good times, this project is heading n the right direction. Next mod will be a custom tune to tie it all together.

What does the motor mount do for these cars? I know what they (stiff motor mounts) do for mustangs, just curious about the Minis
is the bar easily removable for when you need the extra storage space? i was thinking of getting one but i use my trunk too often to give up the space.

A couple things. First, my oem one was bad, which is a pretty common item to fail. Second, I was seeking an alternative to stock because I just did not want to go with a product that was sure to fail again. The most known alternative to stock is the TSW solid mount but the trade off is that it transmits too much NVH into the cabin. The VT mount seemed to be a good but pricey option. So far my observations are that it does raise the NVH a bit but not to a severe level. My wife has not said anything negative so that is my litmus test.
I have powerflex lower engine mounts as well as the transmission or gearbox mount so with the VT addition I am just about rock solid. So what are the benefits? Better shifting for one as well as energy transfer to the wheels. I really feel solid when I am on and off the throttle.
One thing I didn't mention about the VT is that I think it looks fantastic which counts for something.
There is a fellow NAM member selling a VT mount in the gen 1 marketplace. I wish I had gotten that one due to the price differential.

It literally twists on to its mounting points. It may take a few minutes but it is removable. I'll time myself removing the bar and post the results tomorrow.
