Installed the angel eyes finally today, pretty easy job actually. Then as i was re assembling, I decided to do the seafoam. I let it sit for almost an hour. A bit rough to start, I coasted down the hill with a cloud of dark smoke, when I drove past some kids a few blocks away they yelled "your car is on fire" it was pretty funny. Drove the car for half an hour on the highway cant say I noticed a difference. Did not throw any codes, maybe give it anothor treatment next weekend.

Reconnected the wires to my air/fuel ratio gauge. Some how the wires ended up wrapping around the steering column and you can guess what that did. It's been like this for months but I finally got around to repairing it.

Installed Lamin-X light protection and X-Pel door edge guards. On Monday, it's time for my noisemaker delete from WMW.

I have been looking at this gunk on the door since I took delivery over 2 years ago....

So I finally took care of it with a little paint thinner.

Changed mind and went with 18x7.5 ADR M-Sport heavy wheels instead of light weight 17x7.5 Enkei NT03 (it is on sale for 50% off on tirerack.com)
Love Rota MC but just cannot wait 3-4 months so just get these for now and will switch out when they come.

Hope to maintain the stock ride after replacing the runflat and adding lowered springs.
That maybe it for now
Next will be JWC kits

Great job getting 2 year old cosmoline off. Usually after a few months is has stained so badly that you will always see the brown ghost of the drip in the paint (especially on pepper white).

The paint thinner actually did it in pretty quickly.

Washed both cars and applied a thicker pin-stripe to the Clubby to make the "LEGO" bricks stand out a little more.

Poly control arm bushings
Poly lower engine mount
H-sport 27mm swaybar and poly mounts
H&R 15mm spacers w/ longer bolts
535 belt (napa computer said 409...glad I argued)

Noticed a lot of crap I'll be replacing soon...tie rods, axles, core support, ac condensor and evap. Might try to find some bigger brakes and stainless lines to do at the same time.

I did the one ball mod after 2 trips to 3 different muffler shops. Cost $40 (from the $60 he wanted) to cut it out and weld in the pipe. I don't think it's loud enough for my taste. :p

I was going to install the magnaflow 11366 but they quoted me $270 and $350 (then down to $275 after I told them about the $270 quote) because there is so little room to run the pipes and add the tips.

I'm gonna keep looking for a shop that does Mini's in the SF Bay Area to keep the labor costs down. Any suggestions?

After owning the car for half a year, I got the one ball exhaust modification. I love it!! Only cost me 85 bucks, and the mechanic did a very good job IMO

competed at the 2010 SCCA National Solo Finals...

there are a lot of Minis in Lincoln Nebraska this week. They run in H Stock, D Stock, Street Touring Extreme, and there is even a Mini running in Street Modified FWD (a lovely one at that).

The Mini does many things well, from fun factor to economy to safety, but like Sir Alex's original, it also fares well in competition.

I run an '04 JCW in STX, and the Ogburns (Dave and David) run an '08 JCW. Both are fast cars (although not perhaps the most competitive in that particular class) but today the '08 was faster. I rather think that that is simply a faster driver!

Too much fun!

Not to him, per se, but for him... made an appointment to have a new H-Sport rear sway bar installed by the fine folks down at Helix MINISport in Philadelphia.

Took Nudnik to the car wash stall and knocked off the bigger chunks from this weekend's trip to the Old Pueblo. Lotsa bugs out around (and just after) sunset wanted to hitch a ride down there.... Much cleaner, but I still need to do some Stoner's on the windows and put some work into getting rid of brake dust on the wheels....

C ya,
Dutch

PS: Albie -- what a gorgeous sunrise shot....
