Is it in the clear plastic, or the background?
Junkyard? Or aftermarket background, or if it's the clear bit, some lexan from lowes?...

Nows the time to slap in sound deadening material! GTmat is great IMO! I put it in most of my mini, it's so quiet now, almost like a Mercedes or something!

Oil change

I got my oil changed on my 2005 MCS for the first time today (got my MINI a little over a week ago). I actually went to my Toyota dealership because they do free oil changes for military. Only problem was they couldn't get the oil filter off. I guess I will have to actually go to the MINI dealership and have the filter replaced. But still, I got 5 quarts of 5w-30 synthetic oil for free!

I ordered some parts for my Mini yesterday, excited to start getting it looking good again for the spring :-D

Ordered 2 new mirror caps which will be sprayed with the same color I'll be spraying my summer wheels. Ordered a drivers side Euro blind spot mirror now that I finally found one (thank goodness for ECS now carrying Mini stuff, I've had the blind spot/asphrical mirrors on my last 4 cars and love them, I've found the Mini has a bad blind spot and I kept wishing I'd find one of those mirrors). I also ordered a replacement license plate bulb lens to replace the one I cracked when I installed my LED lights the other week... doh! Oh yea, and I ordered some special paint to have my car painted, can't wait :-D

The background. Fortunately, the screws were not long enough to hit the plastic.

I will start looking at junkyards. I've already looked at aftermarket faces; most don't match the stock ones so I'd have to do the tach and speedo, and most of those are rather spendy...

If nothing else, if I can open the tach up far enough I can push the displaced material back into place again. Maybe a little tape on the back or something. Mostly to keep the red-orange illumination from showing up as a dot.

Argh.

still amazes me how fast this little baby can get from zero to way above the speedlimit..
need to do a wash on her this weekend after i get back from the farm

Not sure if you've tried eBay but just from random browsing of used parts, I've come across a decent amount of tachs in pretty good cosmetic condition.

I love how you threw this in at the end like it was an after thought! Do we have to wait to see the special paint or can you describe it for us?

oh, you'll have to wait, it's a surprise I'm hoping to have it all done in the next 3 or 4 weeks so I'm guessing it should be all ready for the Mini show at Bethpage State Park which I think is in early May (I'll also be going to a show in CT next weekend, Dubs on Defrost, but I'll have my same old boring paint ).

How is that possible even without comfort access I can not lock my key in the car? My MINI will not lock with the fob inside the car. I tried, I took my spare set and threw them in there and locked the car and it would immediately unlock.

Just got back from San Fran, feels good to drive my MINI again.

The night before I left I took off my DDM intake(went back to stock), and now she runs a lot better especially with the low end, just cruising at 80+mph:-).
