Replaced the coolant thermostat/gasket (for the third time!!) and the adjacent
coolant temp sensor - it looks like that was more the source of the slow leak than
the thermo gasket this time. Not to hard on an R50 - take out the airbox, battery,
ecu, and battery box and it's easy to get to.

Upgraded my stock R53 brakes to new John Cooper Works R56 full brake kit, stainless steel lines. And new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

Went for a good drive this morning and loving the vastly improved braking response and road traction.

Put on my snow treads to get ready for winter. Told my husband I was testing them out in the sand traps at the local golf course.

Installed Craven Speed Dip stick. ( it works )
Then wash clean and detail.
I have to order some weather suitable floor mats.
The oem mats are a disappointment.

To much fun !

Wrapped the new downpipe with DEI insulation.

Rotated the tires, during which I washed and waxed the insides of the wheels and cleaned up the calipers.

installed 4300K fog light HID's , made my headlamps useless almost. Gonna get sylvania silverstar ultras (4100K) for headlamps to try and get use of them again. Wished my car came with HID's , but the fogs look great.

Consider these as well:
Philips 9006 CrystalVision Ultra Headlight Bulbs(Pack of 2) : Amazon.com : Automotive Philips 9006 CrystalVision Ultra Headlight Bulbs(Pack of 2) : Amazon.com : Automotive

I got these for a car that didn't come with HIDs and no projectors, love them. I read they last longer than the Sylvanias, plus Philips is IMO #1 for headlights

As for me, did this in my Mini today:

Put Cravenspeed STDs on my R53 before taking a stray cat that I caught to a no kill shelter. Sadly, I needed them because halfway there the cat decided to empty it's bowels in the cage and make the worst stink I had ever smelled, distracting me and I hit a few good bumps. I also got frustrated by a shop telling me that activating my rear fog and OBC could only be done with illegal software and a stolen BMW cable and that they could not do it......fun day. :/

Forgot to mention, after the cat shat itself I got detoured by an 18 wheeler that got into a jam at a rural interchange and made me divert an additional 10 miles. ......10 miles of meow, meow, meow and that horrid smell....with windows down and temps in the 30s.

I'm not whining though...it was an experience I will not forget and that is what our cars are for....Experimces....even the nasty ones.

Hit 100 hours of top down time this weekend. Have yet to put the top up for anything but rain or passenger begging.

The hood insulation is interesting, what benefit does it offer? Never seen it on a US car.

Today I washed the car (twice in one week - is that obsessive?) and applied Prima Hydro Max spray polymer. Wow. Easy to apply and what a shine!

Keeps heat from the surface of the hood and helps dampen sound a bit. US vs. elsewhere? Couldn't tell ya.

Same thing happened to me once with my Grandma's cat and her in the car. I drove them to the vet. I was a bit afraid who the smell was coming from so was hesitant to say anything at first

Spent he morning putting three and a half cans of wax undercoat on the underside, behind the rear lights, under the door sills, in the engine bay under the hood, in the doors, tow screw locations, and pretty well any place I could get to with the car 8" off the ground or find a hole. Car stinks now...but at least it won't rust or corrode
