Went to the dealership:

1) Had my first free oil change under warranty done at ~8,500 miles.
2) Had MINI check the squeal noise when turning off engine whether hot or cold, and was told it is normal and is caused by the valve timing motor? Going to have to google more about that one.
3) Had MINI check why my headlights are crooked and they realigned it to match.
4) Had MINI check why my recirculating button in AC turns off for no reason during my commute to/from work, and was told it's because the AUTO AC does it automatically after reaching a specified temperature. (Odd how my old MCS didn't behave this way)
5) Reinstalled my GP2 skid plate at home.
6) Rotated tires when I got home.

Need to wash and detail my baby tomorrow morning. ; )

I hate climate controls that dont do what I tell them to do. Lets suck in possibly putrid, CO filled air from outside even though the driver wants recirculated air. I know the car isnt air tight, but purposely pumping in gas from a sewer treatment plant you happen to be passing for no reason is ridiculous, for example.

Went for a 104 mile run with PDX MINI. About 16 cars, good company, twisty/fun roads, beautiful scenery and Mexican food for lunch. Nice!

Yesterday, rather than today:

Brought home a couple of 9-foot lengths of PVC pipe in the car. Well, mostly in the car; about 12" of it was sticking out of the front corner of the passenger window.

Changed out the winters for the Performance Summers.
First time, and I must say, that wasn't as easy as I thought it would be.
Course it could be I'm old and fat, but the ride is loads smoother now.
Racked up around 60 miles, now to see if they need tightened!

Also....Yay for the warm weather in Chicago.

I did a bit of detailing and kept looking at my Midnight Black paint thinking "Winter in Chicago SUCKS." This will take a few days to remedy but it's on the calendar for the beginning of May.

Started the great teardown:

I dropped the subframe and replaced all the following:

Inner and outer ball joints.

Installed my Powerflex rack bushing, swaybar and control arm bushings.

Both inner CV boots, the outers were done 10k ago.

The output drive seals.

I replaced both the feed and return power steering lines.

Changed the trans oil Redline MTL.

I had to order some more parts from Sewell, but the subframe is back in the car. I can’t wait to drive it.

I’m still mulling over which shocks to buy. I’m sticking with the stock springs so it’s Bilstein Sport Touring or Koni FSD.

Made another run to OSH and came home with another 9-foot PVC pipe. Also drove up into the hills to my folks' place and back home again.

idgmo, that is one great mod. Thanks for the posting the picture.

May I add a little? Take two lengths of black hose, like fuel line hose, slit them on one side and push each up against the console plastic you cut on both sides of the iPad. It will look like a "frame" and give your excellent project a finished look.

Thank you, I will definitely be adding that to the mod.

Remember, they come in different widths and thicknesses. You will probable want something narrow and very thin.
