Installed H-Sport comp rear sway bars and NM Engineering Ti heat shield. The difference in bonnet temps before and after heat shield was INCREDIBLE! Before: burn hands; after: warm. That was after motoring all day on twisties in the Blue Mountains.... VERY impressive! I think it's safe to say there's very little hood scoop warping risk now. What have other folks found with these heat shields after spirited motoring all day? Does it still remain this good? How about during the summer summer?

On area's taht are touched (the door handles) yes, you will have to touch up occasionally. The rings around the lights, not so much. They are never touched.

Installed the Helix Short Shifter over the weekend. It was a tedious process, would not recommend doing it alone! But shifts definitely feel shorter and more positive. I did not put the plastic cover back on the shifter box so let's hope it doesn't get too dirty in there!

You're correct…. Rods and pistons. Probably will also have to upgrade the clutch as well.

Taught the old dog a new trick.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post3998227

EDIT: And the Ol' Lady thought it was such a cute trick, she had me teach it to her MINI too.

My mini's clutch was a bit grabby (@ 64K miles), especially in the morning. Pulling away from a stop was becoming unpleasant, not so fun to drive anymore, downright clunky. I had been eying the NM inserts for the bottom torque arm but I couldn't justify the cost. Ever since I saw that mod I could not help wondering, what if you just squirt some RTV in the air gaps.

Well yesterday I went to the 99cent store and bought 2 tubes of RTV. Total cost was $2.18. 2 tubes is just enough for one car.
I squirted it in with the bracket in place last night and this morning took it for a spin. I could not believe the difference. It was so easy to modulate the clutch while cold. The car felt new again, actually a little better than new. Shifting is now very crisp.
Clutch modulation is now very linear, with no grab and clunk like before

I have heard complaints that with the urethane inserts or the replacement solid torque arms, that vibration can be transmitted into the cabin. RTV must have just enough give to bypass that problem, no extra vibration. I have been complaining about the clutch on this car since day 1 and 12 miles on the odometer, it is much better now at 64K. Best $2.18 and 10 minutes I have spent on this car! The wifes car is next.

Did the auto open hatch mod. Installed GTSpec strut brace. Installed a Sneedspeed shift **** on my Cravenspeed short shifter. Installed new Stoptech rotors, pads, and stainless brake lines. Added wheels by Motegi Racing.

Went by to look at #24 sitting at the shop, waiting to have the R90 Wheels refinished and the commemorative decals replaced.

Verified #211 is ready for pickup Saturday (Power Steering Pump) warranty replacement.

Polished my R52

Printed my first proof for the Rocket Fuel Only decal

Motor on!

I visited the mechanic that is fixing the power steering pump replacement. The car should be done in an hour or so. This after replacing the rack a few weeks ago and the passenger door lock mechanism a few weeks before that. And did I mention the drivers door window motor that is failing. Or the passenger window motor that failed the day I brought the car home?

Do I love the car? When it's working fine! Right now my love is pretty tarnished and if the is streak doesn't end, the for sale signs are going on it. All in less than 12 months of ownership and only 34,700 on the clock at purchase, certified via Carfax.

It's safe to assume whenever you see a used MCS for sale somebody is trying to get rid of it and don't want the headache anymore. Buying a used 2007-2010 MCS is the worst decision you could make and even a professional gambler knows it's a bad bet, fold!

Back to thread topic.
