I was following a tractor in my '02 MCS and hearing a slap, slap, slap noise and thinking "Wow, that tractor sounds like it's had it..."

Then the tractor pulled off the road, I continued straight ahead but the "slap, slap, slap" mechanical noise kept with me.

So, new axles, CV joints, struts and tires later my little red go-faster is feeling much better and quieter on the road. This takes the mods repairs to:

1. Clutch
2. Power steering pump
3. Power steering fan
4. brakes & rotors
5. Borla exhaust
6. K&N Typhoon CAI
7. One bent rim
8. Short throw shifter
9. Cheap little shifter bushing (purchased from Ford)
10. Strut tower reinforcements
11. Supercharger pulley
12. Rear Hotchkis stabilizer bar.
13. Anything CravenSpeed sells
14. 3 windshields
15. Air conditioner compressor

I guess I better plan on keeping it a while longer! Still love the car!

Tie rods, ball joints, front end-links, replaced old Bilstein PSS9's with new set, and had my BBS RG-R's powder coated silver.

Will you please share with us the part number for " Cheap little shifter bushing (purchased from Ford)"? I remember seeing a write up on this but have not found it since.

Ford # 97ZZ-7335-AA is the part number. If I was better at attaching photos to this place, I could send the before and after shot. This fix worked on my 2002 R53. I have a CravenSpeed short-throw shifter in it but that wasn't part of the problem at all. I think the part is off of a Ford Focus or something like that. It is expensive, considering it's just a small piece of plastic but MINI said there were no serviceable parts.

That's one opinion! Good luck and PM me if you have any questions. The total repair was a cinch. The part was around $10.00, I think.

Put on the DDMWorks CAI. After reading how hard the resonator box was to remove, I was ready for a fight. It was not nearly as bad as I expected. However, I got stupid and tried to clean out the throttle body which was really dirty around the edge of the butterfly. I used an electronic spray and unfortunately it washed the crud into the intake manifold (what was I thinking) and caused the engine to misfire and lightup the CEL. It stumbled for a while until it finally cleared and I reset the CEL. All is good.

Got my new (boring) brake rotors and pads from the courier Friday. Drove around town today looking for either a key to fit my security wheel nuts (car didn't come with one from PO) or 4 x new studs but no one had anything so I gave up.

Trying to source a new key for early next week and will do them then.

Same as Anakist ...Got my new Rotors front and rear(Adams Drilled and Slotted) in today along with FSD shocks and Ireland fixed Camber plates...Hawke pads and everything to do brakes and shocks front and rear ...also my new r105 mat black 18" summer pirelli tires/wheels ...will start hopefully to get it all on beginning of week. Should be a two day process since I'm doing it alone and this is my first attempt at playing mechanic. But I'm fairly confident it will go relatively fast seeing as I have committed to educating myself on everything that could go wrong ie..Rotor screw not coming out etc...excited to tackle and also nervous with anticipation.

Good job researching. Its not bad.

Rotor screws are not a problem if you have the right tools. If you are adding tools to your collection, consider adding this...

Got bored waiting for the key to my security nuts to arrive so I decided to finish and install a fire extinguisher bracket made out of plain aluminium angle I had lying around.

First job today was to tap the holes in the seat base to M6x1.

Bolt the bracket to the seat base, bolt the other bracket up, mark it, drill and rivet it all together. Test fit.

Mark drill and rivet the extinguisher mount onto the bracket.

It fouls on the adjuster. I am going to have to cut some of the bracket off so the seat can move forward.

Arrived home to find a nice little box of goodies on my door step. I installed an AFE dry high flow air filter on my 2012 MCS.

I also changed the shift gaiter and shift ****. I swapped out the damaged shift gaiter with a nice fresh one and popped on a John Cooper Works shift ****.

They posted some info in there, otherwise there is no true way to know the # for the plaque.

Had an out of control VERY large dad cut me off and road raged at me because my Mini "scared" his daughter because I was behind her in her little car for a few miles! What the H***??? I wasn't tailgating, just driving home...little girl appeared to be a new driver. The weird part was that her dad was coming down the road in his huge 4x4 the other way and cut off all traffic and threatened me! I tried to get my phone camera to come on, but he was done yelling in about 30 seconds. I'm getting a go pro dash cam! I was too rattled to get his license #.

Thought I'd try a new brown to Horizon Blue fade!

I've got a whole pile of parts kicking around in boxes that I'm just itching to install... if there were only 8 days in a week!

Nice,

Do you like the red light pulsation when armed ?
The MINI factory alarms when they go off are very very loud. lol

If you set it off in a tunnel cover your ears.

Installed KW V1 coilovers, PowerFlex front rear control arm bushings, PowerFlex front swaybar bushings, and attempted the powerflex rear wishbone support bushings but i could not get the nuts loose AT ALL. So I'll skip those.

Also reinstalled my WMW catless downpipe that I had ceramic coated. Reinstalled my Brisk Plugs and IP Coils. Loaded up my stage 3 DNA tune. It feels good to be loud and have power again.

Actually I have coded to make the alarm LED work prior to installing the alarm. The LED and the alarm chirp was really cute, but the panic and the distress signal from the alarm was so .....ing loud Still finding out how to make the hood switch work though. But it was nothing major lol
