I have a even better love for my MINI now. I psyched myself out reading some of these posts over the years but when push came to shove Barnaby pulled through! Love it!

I'm asking you because we all know that the needle is not really accurate after reaching operating temperature and by the time the car starts to overheat, the needle could very well sit still for a good while after starting to rise.

Cheers!
I have the nav option on mine so there is no "needle" but the red flashing light on the dash went on a few times while the fan came on etc. Is there a way to tell how hot it really got?

NAV option... got it!

Well, the only way I know of logging data is via an OBD2 interface and Torque Android App. With it you can pretty much log any readable parameter, including temperature.

Cheers!

Ok thanks. I am assuming since it passed the test at the dealer, and made the ride home yesterday (8 hours) with no problems at all. It survived the situation with no issues?

It has happened to me twice!

None of those have been catastrophic. No damages. In my case was caused by a leaky water reservoir pressure cap and a faulty fan.

Since then, I changed the entire cooling system, hoses, pump, reservoir, thermostat, thermostat housing, radiator, fan, etc....

No temp problems ever since!

Cheers!

Took the Ms. to get some under garments upgraded. Local shop installed custom exhaust from downpipes back. She goes back in next Friday, the drone is a little much. They are willing to swap till we get it right, hooray for local shops that take care of customers. 2.5" all the way back, resonator, and performance muffler with 3.5" tips. Once I figure out how to upload a video I'll do that as well.

Add in a resonator / hot dog somewhere in the middle. I had a custom exhaust put on my Lancer and it would boom and drone on the highway. Put in a single resonator and it cut out the drone and made it sound heaps better. Best sounding exhaust on a flat 4 I have ever heard. Real low and guttural without being harsh or raspy.

The chrome piece towards the front is a 12" resonator. The shop ordered a couple different lengths to try (18", 24") and also an oval shaped one. She goes in next Friday to try these out to get the drone down a bit.

The Lancer doesn't have a flat-4 engine. It has an inline-4. You're thinking Scooby. Or old VW...

Replaced an A/C line (Mini Part #64536953419, the one that includes the high-side port) because the line wasn't properly secured and ended up wearing into the rubber hose part of the line. High side had a little bit of residual pressure due the wear area not being completely worn through yet (but worn enough that most of the freon was able to escape). Got a shock when I popped the line off. lol

Also went ahead and replaced the drier while I was at it. Getting the system recharged tomorrow and my fingers are crossed that I'll have ice cold A/C once again after not having it for the past 18 months. Really hoping the condenser is still good.

Splitter is made from an engraving material my company makes control panels from if they are not aluminum. It's strong.. Flexible.. And already black! Door trim on the front smoothed the edge. Designed the pattern in CAD software and printed to scale.. Traced and cut...

Had Midas charge the lines for me and all is well! Made these 100 degree summer days a little more manageable.
