I'd love to be proved wrong, though!
So this did not happen today, nor yesterday, but a few weeks ago:
So my windshield wipers failed on me. Just failed to turn on at all. The rear one was working just fine though. There were times the wiper would turn over, but wouldn't work for long. There were also times when it stopped working halfway up. So I looked around, and heard abotu the grounding issue that is associated with these MINIs, so my dad and I gave that try. And guess what? It did not work. Nothing. So in the end, we had to take the car into Mini, and have them look at it.
They determined that the wiper motor failed (which I always thought was strange given there was never any indication it was going to fail), so they had to replace the entire wiper assembly, and put new relays in as well. It was working when I got the car back. As you can imagine, it wasn't cheap.
So fast forward a few days later and...the wipers failed again, and it happened when it was raining, but luckily I had RainX, so it wasn't too bad. There was a few moments where it sprung back to life, but only briefly (there was even a delay when hitting the switch and something actually happening). At this point, I was just laughing because they were supposed to fix it the first time, and it did not last. I tried the ground wire trick again, and still nothing. So my dad and I took it back to Mini (the service guy was of course not pleased it wasn't working again).
So Mini determined that the cause of the issue was in fact a broken wire (don't to this day know what wire), and it had to be replaced. In the end though, they charged nothing for the wire or anything this time around, so there's a good silver lining. Now the wipers are working just fine, and I have a whole new wiper assembly and relays.
The head mechanic at the dealer said he will rebuild any engine or transmission if he never has to do the wiper assembly again on a Mini.
On a side note, I'm about to hit 140k, which will happen tomorrow on my way to work. Everything is still going strong!
P.S. When I took Egan in to get that situation taken care of, they also replaced the battery, and they were extremely surprised that it was the original battery (so 10 years old). I have to give BMW credit for making such a good battery for the Mini.

Well not today, but over the weekend, so that counts. First I bought a bunch of stuff fro ESC Tuning, then took the weekend to put it on. Replaced the mid exhaust mounts, welded the crack in my exhaust (guess I'm too low), replaced all the exhaust gaskets, replaced all the power steering lines, and replaced the gasket between the oil filter housing and the block. I guess after 364,000+ miles hoses and gaskets start leaking. All back up and running now, not a drip of fluid leaking out anymore.

Rain on way into the area again here this morning, but the roads did finally dry overnight. So got gloves and a hat, backed the Mini out of the garage, put the top down and went for a 36 mile joy ride in 40 degree air with very dark cloudy skies. One of many loops that go along lakes and over some good hills. Did stop at a grocery store and picked up some cream for coffee and a dozen eggs on way back around the loop I drove, so not totally frivolous.
Started to drizzle lightly as I came up to my driveway. Got into garage just in time, still clean and dry. Had to do it. It's been 4 days since I drove it. Rained the rest of the day, and it's still raining out there now.

Its good you are ruling out the other items before you go into tearing things apart.
