Carbon Fiber Interior Door Handles
JCW GP 2 Side Scuttles
And now the bad. While pulling the speaker cover off I broke the power side mirror controller. 100% me being impatient. Oh well. So my top tip of the day.
The mirror control unit is fragile and the cord is very short.

Want more lights on the front so I decided to get the PIAA light kit from 4 wheel online. It comes with two lamps and a specific mounting kit so installation can be straightforward I think.

I hate that. I remember a year when my car was parked outside and we got dumped on with about 15-20 inches of snow.

Ok so back to this stupid mini 2002. I got me a thermostat from another car that was available. I machined it down to fit the rubber piece and put it in the car. This is a brand new thermostat from autozone rated to 91C. I turn on the car and see it go to like 50C and it freaking stayed there for a very long time, going only to 75C after driving for 30 miles. Grr. pissed off, I chucked a piece of PVC, put a little 7/16" hole in it and made it fit the upper hose. started the car in the morning.... temp if I stay idle for a very very long time.. like 30 minutes, will go past 90C and make the stupid computer happy. However as soon as I drive, it goes to 70C or even less depending on the starting temp. So I got really smart this morning and took the hole and made it really small 1/4". temp stays at 80C. unless I idle for a long time, then the temp will climb to 105 and past, very very slowly.
What gives! why does the thermostat not work correctly?
My heater inside the cabin stays hot the whole time. Is there a water valve that is supposed to close but stays open?
The system is bleed and has plenty of coolant and heat comes out plenty fine ( heats up when/if engine heats up)
outside temp is 50C. This is every morning when I start that car, 50C.
I have not given up the sledge hammer temptation. I mean, it is literally 3 steps from the car when the car is parked next to my garage. I walk past it when I come into the house. I could just pick it up and give the car a few good swings. I really could do this!

Yesterday (1/9/16) I installed Koni FSD struts and WMW strut tower reiforcement plates.
Today (1/10/16) I replaced the left and right parking brake cables.
I broke the head off the pinch bolt on the pass.side steering knuckle and was unable to remove the old strut. I could not extract the rest of the bolt, so I bought a used knuckle on eBay ($75 + free shipping). When the replacement knuckle arrives I will swap it in and then put the Koni strut in.

It's been pretty cold in the garage, therefore very little has been accomplished lately.
I went to remove the old p.side knuckle and strut, but the knuckle continued to be a pain in the butt. Long story short - the ABS sensor broke off in the knuckle when I tried to remove it.
Trust me, I exercised a lot of patience and used a lot of penetrating fluid, but in the end it was unavoidable.
I'll be ordering a new sensor today so I can get things put back together.
Still waiting for my calipers to come back from powder coating. They should be done in the next few days.
Also need to get some tires mounted and balanced before it's all done.
Yea it is going to take some getting used to for sure. So far only about 5" but I am hoping for nothing more but we all know how that goes ..
Hopefully not much more snow, looks like DC is going to get hit.
Funny on IG , you will see a bunch of MINIs in the snow. DC has a huge MINI base so guess what will be on IG.

Oh ya. The weather man isn't always right. You know those big bubble car covers? At the time I wanted to buy one so that at least it would be protected, but can't always trust that people wouldn't pop it.

I have talked about it many times, the heads of the abs sensor can be sensitive to cracks and if rusted into place and break.
Most of the time when you try to pop the sensors out they are rusted into place.
I had one of those snap in two when replacing the wheel bearing. Then tend to seize into the socket.
For the wheel bearing after you remove it, clean the axle carrier where the wheel bearing mounts back in with some fine sand paper, spray some lubricant and then wipe it clean, it helps seat the new wheel bearing seal into place.

When installing the ABS sensor make sure you clean out the insertion hole, as I have had corrosion built up and when you slide it in they tend to stick.

Sensors HERE if needed. Let me know if you need any assistance! Be sure to post up your calipers as I definitely want to see how they turned out.
Placed an order with you earlier this morning. For the sensor and some brake rotor set screws.
