I am new here and will post a bit later with pics of my 2016 full everything "Mini Bear" ..

So I have had my mini for just about a month now.

Over the last two weeks I...

1- Added a true power line and breaker box behind the removable panel in the rear so i can add power to a trailer connector and run a converter when parked with car running.

2- added a 9500ci build in radar detector throughout the car. that was fun with Mini space.

3- added a mini luggage bar on top. (had to disassemble to sand and paint black to match)

4- changed all light rims to black.

5- added 2x2 LED spot lights to front and added switch. ( working on how to get second light icon to light on dash)

Just a weeeks work.. what will next week change? I still have a box of parts..

I have spend many hours to install these items with care and little destruction to my mini.. Anyone wants info on how just ask..

Finished my spark plug repair. #2 decided to vacate his home and took the threads with him. Ordered the time-sert tool and inserts. Finished in about a half hour and was easy to do.

If anyone else has to do this, get some old pantyhose and cut a small enough piece to stuff down into the cylinder to capture shavings. Then use that retrieval tool to pull it out when your done. Vacuum out the cylinder for any that did get caught on the pantyhose. Disconnect coil pack, turn engine over a few times to blow anything out, replace spark plugs, reconnect coil pack, and you're done.

Oh wow... Sorry to hear this happened but glad to hear that you fixed it! You will like the time-serts! This happened to me back in Nov-2006 at 22k miles... right? #2 as well! Skeptical of the other three cylinder threads, I opted to have all 4 done at the same time.

I paid a local shop to do the work for me but still going strong today at 110k miles!

Just thankful it's a relatively easy job to do. Just suck the tool is expensive but the inserts are cheap. I have extra inserts so if it happens again I got it covered. I've only had problems with #2. The others seem fine so far.

More maintenance

Though this list consists of a few weeks of work, it was mostly maintenance items.
- New Stagg struts, Lemforder mounts, hardware and rubbers
- Front brake pads and sensor
- Rupse exhaust tips (painted black)
- Plenty of cleaning

What do you think about the ride on the new struts?

You should post a separate thread on this issue with a DIY on what you did for the replacement. This might come in handy for someone else in the future. Glad you got it fixed.

MINI still sells these parts so they aren't hard to get. We have the carbon fiber scoop HERE and the trunk lid grip HERE. Looks good on your MINI!

Those look great and are going to really go well with the wheels and color of your MINI. Looking forward to seeing them installed.
