Unhooked and started to remove the hard brake lines to the rear - at least one of them had finally succumbed to rust - THAT was a fun drive home!?! Broke almost all of the little plastic clips that hold the lines in place - they were rusted only around the clips - must hold moisture there, or maybe the clips rub away the protective coating?
Now trying to figure out if it's possible to remove the old lines and bend the new ones without removing anything (i.e. gas tank?!?). The old ones are routed above the gas tank filler pipe and what I think are the fuel lines, meaning there is little to no clearance to snake out the old lines to preserve the bends as reference for bending the new lines. I've misplaced my manual, so any tips would be greatly appreciated (did a search on NAM to no avail).

One of the guys at the shop grabbed up an aftermarket system from Ebay last week and tried to put it in. It was a bargain at under $300.00 Welds looked nice, but the muffler ***** themselves seem to be hollow, and the pipes didn't have enough bend to join the tips like they should be. I told him to go to a Meineke Muffler shop since they have a pipe bender, maybe they could get a better fit. He too said was louder than expected/wanted...I don't think he'd keeping it on though.

Not sure why I even considered going cheap on the exhaust. Live n learn I guess. Oh well.
I need something like this! Tired of mine rolling around in the back seat and always scared it's going to leak onto the carpet. Had one to do that a while back. Getting that out of my carpet as no fun. P.S. really digging the stripe. Looks super good on your MINI.

Thanks! I think that stripe turned out better than I expected.

Removed front driver seat and re-stitched leather seam. It came out pretty darn tight and feels so much better. Youtube blind stitch leather repair, went to walmart bought thread and curved needles. All in all $8. 20 minutes to remove and replace and just over an hour to stitch! I am very glad I took the seat out and did it inside despite the 70* weather.
Also, oil change, wash, and touch-up paint chips with Dupli-Color "Scratch Fix All-in-1" Cardinal Red (forum member here said it was a pretty close match) and it's good enough for little rock pits.
Drumroll...

Nice stitch job. Can't even tell.
