Been waiting since February, and this beast has finally arrived!

Install took me about three hours. Feels amazing.

Well - I bought it a week and a half ago. What have I done so far?

Last week:
  • Added the JB+ Piggy Back Tune
  • Did a full two stage paint correction

This week:

  • Replaced windshield cowl since it was faded and gray with a new one from ECS
  • Replaced all four runflats with Bridgestone Potenzas

More to come.....

Very satisfied - especially for the cost and time effort. There is a substantially noticeable power jump over stock, but it is really only available at wide open throttle. If I push it to the floor in second, it will completely loose traction.

been researching this. But unfortunately it’s not available for r53’s. Might have to bite the bullet and go with a tune

Yeah, that's a bummer. A tune is probably more fun though, even with the extra cost.

I came out of a BMW E93 into this car, so there wasn't much of a transition since the F56S I bought is basically just a BMW 228i with a de-tuned engine. Most of all the things I learned about the BMW seem to move right across to this car.

Oh - almost forgot - I also installed the Turner Motorsports Clutch stop as well. That is by far the best $10 you can spend on these cars. Makes driving so much better.

Spring has sprung in Wisconsin

today in Mini land

Replaced front strut bearings. that right one was really bad. anyone ever notice if rights or lefts go first?

Dried out interior from sunroof leak. Cleaned up 40 pin connector. Installed jumper wire on pin 22 (OBD power). Reset airbag light, and O2 sensor errors. (why do Bosch O2 sensor upstream of CAT throw errors?)

After work, a drive through some Wisconsin twisties!

Enjoy,

Paul

Because the quality of Bosch parts has gone downhill over the last 10-15 years. I will only buy Denso or NTK oxygen sensors anymore. I also avoid Bosch spark plugs at all costs. NGK (which is OE on MINIs) for pretty much anything, even my Jeep.

My theory is that shoulder of the road has more pothole than the center, which makes the right side strut bearings wear out faster.

x2 My right side 'appears' to go quicker than the driver side left. Not sure why.

I recall back in 2005 when the right side mount tore/broke. I took it to MINI under warranty and was told they cannot warranty the item as the damage was due to the "way I drive". But for $986, they can replace both.

Because it couldnt be the city streets or a weak part... For $85, I did both myself and logged a complaint.

That looks sick. Other than feeling amazing what else does it give you? I guess you'd lose the centre console with this kit or does it fit under? How about some installed pics?

It feels ammmmmaaaazzzziiiinnngggg. Transformed the car. The rubber bushings on the OEM shift box we're very sloppy and caused the car to pop out of 6th when under load. This solved that problem.

The center console needs to be cut, but I'm leaving that and general clean up for the weekend.

Finally installed my powerflex trans bushings. Need driving with the front ones installed i couldn’t get the rear ones in. So i left the stock ones and even with my VIP engine stabilizer i blew the Hydraulic motor mount in a week.

Got it a new motor mount. And now everything is in place.
Inside vibration doesn’t bother me. Just a tiny shake. I mean like really tiny on idle.

Shifting is amazing. The car feels more responsive. Can’t wait to push her this weekend.

Added some ARP connecting rod bolts and a bigger turbo. Went with Mario's 43/57.

Curious what ARP rod bolts will do for the engine, with no other mods? I know what a big turbo will do, but rod bolts?

Not familiar with the turbo MINIs, but I know they are the weak link in some other engines, like VWs VR6. I built a turbo VR6 and replaced the rod bolts to fortify the engine to withstand the boost.
