^Thank you. I know many folks frown upon 18's, but for everyday street and spirited driving, they're great. Definitely wouldn't keep these on for a track day though :-)

 

I think 18's can look great even on R53 if the right wheel is selected and it's done right. The only problem I have is most people go with "cheap" 18's that weigh 25lbs each and ruin the great MINI "feel."

 

The funny thing is the R113's weigh the same as the 17" R112's. Weight was definitely not a factor here lol

18's can look amazing on the R5x platform, but yes, if only done right. Case in point....

 

I love the look...I was able to score my 18"s from a friend for cheap so I can run the 18"s on none track days.
I as bored and had a couple moments before church so I ran it through a pic editor...

I like your blacked out roof sometimes I wish my PW wasn't color coded al PW so I could do the blacked out trim etc...

 

My next set of 18's will be the gold Work Vs-xx.

 

Noooooo!!!! I've seen VS-XX so many times now on non-MINI and MINIs in general I'm tired of seeing them!

BUT to each their own. They'll look good regardless of what I think!

 

I think if I was going to spend that kind of money on a mesh type wheel I'd go for BBS LMs or RSs over the Works. Although as much as I love that style of wheel, I have to agree that they are becoming almost overly popular on Minis.

Personally, I picked up a set of PF01s for my car. I know that there are people who run them on minis but they aren't particularly common and they are a sweet wheel for the money. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't go for some BBS's or Works if I had the money though

 

For some reason in NY (more so NYC) I don't see any MINI's on BBS, Work, or any other very nice/expensive wheel. The roads here are absolute crap so that may play a role in many people's choices. I have a couple of other things I want to do to my MINI while I'm in the process of shopping for a house, so all other major purchases will be put on hold. The only things I need right now are black/carbon fiber door handle covers and a rear sway bar....and then the MINI is fully complete. (Yeah right)

I'll be looking around for my perfect Audi soon enough and once the MINI is no longer my daily driver, I'll be tearing it apart to turn it into a beast.

 

And don't kill me but I wouldn't know how to tell the difference from real to fake BBS. There's so many floating around and I've never been a wheel person to know (or care) enough to tell the difference.

What I do know is that I don't want a "stepped" lip. Lol

 

I probably couldn't even tell the difference myself unless I got a close enough look at them. The majority of the population couldn't either. High end wheels are a bit of a status symbol. I'm not much a wheel snob myself which is why I went the route that I did. I didn't care for something that gave me extra street cred or a "hella sweet fitment" (not that I'm saying that is always the concern of those with expensive wheels), but I knew I wanted something light, strong, and affordable.

 

I went with pretty much the opposite of 18's, instead of up 1 from my 17" S-Heavies I went down to 16" SSR Type-C's. I think once I install my coilovers this week they'll look much better. I'll be lowering it roughly 1.5-1.75" which will get me nice and low without being so low that I can't drive the thing anywhere.

I rock both 16"S-Winders & 18" R105

 

IMO, first gens on 16s look perfect. You have to be lowered for it to look good though.

 

Yup, even with 205/50's (which are a pretty tall tire IMO) it still looks funny. I'm excited to lower it this week!

Some great looking MINIs, my friends! The red wheels look hot for the young and the bold! Nicely done.

 

I got my Clubman all cleaned up for the spring. Wash, clay bar, and wax certainly helps after months of salt and slush!

Thanks! I don't have a fancy budget for exotic products anymore but, if anyone's interested, here's what she got today.

1) wheels sprayed with sonax full effect and brushed
2) wheels sprayed (no rinse between) with adam's APC and brushed again
3) body decontaminated with auto finesse iron out
4) body foamed with a glamour foam gun and sonax car wash + Adam's apc (the APC is a once a year, after the winter only, addition)
5) two bucket washed with the sonax car wash and a wooly MIT
6) body clay barred with griot's clay and mother's showtime
7) base coat of sonax nano wax
8) two coats of mother's California gold
9) jambs and thresholds cleaned with Adam's APC
10) 303 aerospace applied to all exterior plastics and door seals
11) VERY light coat of meguiars hot shine on the tires

The clay job took a really long time. The worst I've dealt with after just one winter, probably because of its length and severity, but she's all clean now
