1st year Clubman report, thinking about a JCW

We've had our '12 Clubman for a year and 2 months, my wife's daily. We have absolutely loved it. We have 2 kids and it suits our "around town" needs.

We have taken it on vacation, 400 miles to the beach, and I was able to get a week's worth of beach clothes, sand toys, AND beach chairs in it. I put nothing on the floor and everyone had room for their feet. I have pictures to prove it and once I find them in the gazillion digital photos we have I'll post them.

I love driving it and do so every chance I get. It's "go-kart" qualities reminds me of the Miatas I've owned. It's made me think about getting a regular Cooper S or JCW for my commuter and occasional track car.

But 2 MINIs in the driveway??

The only complaints I've had so far is after a year some of the interior's items feel very "plasticky" which I imagine will get worse over the years. Plus, that iPhone cord is laughable and frustrating.

Made me feel dirty to read that comparison...I'm sorry, but IMO, there is no other vehicle that compares to a MINI, except another MINI.

Just sayin.

We have been a two mini family for the most part since 2006. I strayed for a little while, but my wife is 100% MINI!

Do it!

Do it. We (wife and I) both drove MINIs for a while, I had a R56 that she loved to drive so I ended up loosing it to her and going and getting a R50 for myself to commute in and then settled on a R55 for the best mix of everything I needed.

I have had 3 gen 1 Miata's, I think they are as good if not a bit better of a car. Much more reliable then what I read about Mini's here. The Miata feels a little more solid, you feel more connected to the road in the ones I have had.
That said I love the Mini and I think they both handle equally. But there is one thing you can't do with a Mini that you can with Miata, stuff a GM LSx motors or the Ford 5.0 in them. BAD *** FAST

Well now Tim, where there is a will, there is a way. I am not familiar with the dimensions of the LSx or 5.0 Ford engines but they cannot be any larger than the Dodge Hemi engine. To see what I am referring to check out the YouTube post below...

That Hemi-Mini cracked me up - I wonder how it handled.

Nothing wrong with that, except you should keep them in the garage.

We currently have 3, but that's temporary.
