It would be a pleasure to meet you at an autocross - you are just east of one of the best venues in the country, and the R56S is an excellent car for the job.
Cheers,
Charlie

MINIs on Top (Mt. Washington, NH). Big event, 250+ cars
MINIs in Foliage (Stratton Mountain, VT) Smaller event at the moment, run for the first time last year, probably 50-100 cars this year
British Invasion (Stowe, VT). Not specifically a MINI event, but all about British cars in general.
The granddaddy of all MINI events is MINIs on the Dragon, in NC. 500+ cars, and 300+ corners in 11 miles.

Welcome from an ex-bostonain now living on the left coast!
It looks like you've already reached out to the folks in the regional forum, the folks out in boston are a good group guys and love to eat, drink, drive, and talk minis! (and motorsports in general) so be sure to sync up with them, I really enjoyed the bi weekly wild *****'s ice cream runs they did in the summer!
Also the White Mountain Chapter of the bmwcca does a bunch of events at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Loudon) if you need a change of venue.
welcome to the club!

I've run with the BMWCCA and they are good folks - I hope you have a great time.
Do holler if you also feel like trying the SCCA program, as I'd be delighted to welcome you and show you around.
I'm working (collaboratively with many folks, some of them here) on trying to understand what makes a great experience for people who are trying autocross for the first time, so that we can make our novice program even stronger. You might be most helpful, and over time I hope you might share your experiences. The thread is over here.
Kind regards,
Charlie
