How much to install stripes.

This is the kit I purchased and I am about to get quotes but have no idea how much is too much to install them.

The roof wont come into play since my car is the same as this car (white car with a black roof). I purchased the hood and rear stripe kit.

Any experience with prices on stuff like this?

Thanks fellow enthusiasts.

Hard to say really. A vinyl type shop would prefer to install their own stripes in the event they mess one up. So if you get someone who doesn't have the ability to cut vinyl what happens if "something" happens? With that said to do hood/boot/both bumpers your looking at 3-4 hours of labor. So at $50 an hour...you could do it yourself. Not all that hard.

Thank you for the response. I know the concept of this and you are correct, it is not hard, but I really really dont have the patience to do it and I want it done correctly really.

This question came up on a Mustang forum I follow. Seems it came in at a low of $300 to a high of around $600. Obviously they are two very different autos, I would get a couple of different quotes.

So far I have two quotes. 300 and 350. I swear I am halfway thinking of getting the stripes painted on.

NOOOOOOoooooo! Don't paint them on, then you can't change them as easy when you are ready for a new/different look.

Sticking those things down is easy peasy. I've done it three times with no issues. It just takes a little preparation, a lot of patience and absolutely no interruptions. (Turn the damn phone off for a couple hours!) and put the $300 in your pocket.

Although I haven't installed them yet, I ordered a set of graphics from here - http://www.mini-graphics.co.uk/mini-...s-side-stripes

It seems to be good quality film and it cost me $157 delivered for the bonnet, boot and side stripes.

I got these...

and these...

I looked into ordering a set from here until they quoted me the nearly $1000 price tag.

http://www.minimotoringgraphics.com/

A local shop quoted me $200 to install them and that included clay-barring to get the surface nice and clean.

I recently paid $200 to have bonnet and boot competition stripes and fender hashmarks installed. I supplied the stripes.

Consider yourself lucky then. I am finding 300 as the minimum so far.

When I had my side stripes installed, I think I paid $40. Sometimes it's really nice to live in a small town.

BTW, the place that installed them also tinted my windows for under $200.

I just received my vinyl stripes order today from Mightstripes and I had mistakingly assumed the "kit" was going to be precut... wrong. There is no way I'm comfortable putting these on myself if I have to trim them to fit. For me to be happy with the instal they will have to be perfect and I know that having to cut the vinyl myself will somehow result in some unevenness that will bother me for as long as they are on the car. Hopefully i can bring the materials to a shop that would be willing to do the install for me.

guys, vinyl is dead simple to install......all you need is some painters tape, a squeege, some soapy water/ windex and a razor blade.

-first measure out where you want your stripes to go, and lay out a small piece of tape to mark the position of each stripe.

-then mist the surface of the paint with windex/ soapy water.

-then spray the adhesive side of the vinyl with windex/soapy water.

-then just lay the decals on the car and position it to your tape marks, the windex will prevent the vinyl from sticking instantly, giving you time to position it correctly.

-then when you are happy with the position, use the squeegie to push the water out from under the vinyl....this will allow the vinyl to stick to the paint.

-let sit for a few hours, then go back and trim excess with a razor blade.

-after 24hrs, go back with the razor blade and make a small slit on top of any air bubbles and squeegie them flat.

-done.

can be done on a lazy weekend in a few hours and youll save yourself $300......

Yeah not so much. I just spent the last hour working on getting two stripes to line up then when i finally got them in place and stuck down, the trim job I did with the razor blade came out jagged as hell. This might be easy for some, but for me, the pros can have my $300 to get it done right.

I don't know where you're getting your vinyl stripes but I've replaced and added three times and every set I've gotten were made to fit. Straight off the backing and down on the paint no trimming. I'd be looking for another source. Aesthetic Creations was a leader in MINI stripes until he got tired of people whining about him being a one man shop and not bowing and scraping to their petty demands for attention and shut down his shop with a one fingered salute to the MINI community...broke my heart 'cause he was a real artist.

I got my stripes here: http://mightystripes.com/Stripes.htm In my experience with ordering the viper stripes from them, what is pictured is not what you get. If anyone has a site for precut stripes, I'd be interested.

I got mine from here. https://id3452.securedata.net/superb...x.php?cPath=10

Here is what it looks like on my car. (Oh and yes, I paid someone to put them on. $300.00 and well worth it.) Some can do it themselves and I say good for them but I dont have the patience to do this. I really dont. OH and our cars are uh, interestingly shaped so it is IMPOSSIBLE to make them straight ....between panels... if you have the gap straight. At least with viper's.

Car looks great, Eric. I’m getting my stripe continued down the boot on Thursday - $85 in labor plus the vinyl for a total of $115.

I envy the guys that can do this, but it’s not a job for me.

I agree. I never put on strips, but did my wifes car. See attached pics. It is really easy. Try doing something small on your car sometime. If you don't like it, a heat gun and a finger nail will remove them.
